usually ill post a deviation that says they're open and then have people post character sheets in the comment section and do them for like two hours. It's not very formal and i make no promises about the drawings being good because I'm usually half asleep during but like if you got something youd like me to do for a request you can just send it to me somehow and then if i ever feel like doing requests or opening a live "requestathon" ill just start with what you've or other people might send me

and also like, id only really do requests of pre designed characters that are quick to sketch. Anything heavily detailed, specific or rendered or that involves me doing character design would have to be commissioned.

ah, that makes sense! It's really cool that you do these. I'll just drop a few references here if you ever feel like doing them

I really admire your painting style, it's something I've tried to do before but have never been able to pull off.

these will be fun i like using them for warm ups some times
I looked through your stuff(i hope you don't mind getting advice from a sheep on the internet) and your strong suit is definitely Gesture and stylized anatomy. Your characters also have nice variety. Which is good, because in my opinion those things are a lot harder to learn than lighting and painting.
I think your work would benefit a lot with improved lighting. Id say your weaknesses are natural looking colors in the backgrounds, lighting and texture variety.
Cell shading can be done in a way that can produce all of these things, but doing it with digital painting is a lot easier imo and advanced cell shading is hard and I'm terrible at it lol
and my advice for learning how to paint rather than using cell shading would be:
1. Do still lifes. Keep them simple at first so you're not overwhelmed and build up your mental library of textures, colors and lighting situations.
2. Go outside and sketch trees, landscapes and stuff from life. If you're new to life drawing they will probably look god awful(mine do i suck at trees) but thats okay because its about learning organic composition and tree patterns
3. Watch bob ross(they are all on youtube) and do some no-presssure just landscape or scenery paintings
4. Play around with different steps and methods to your painting. There are a million ways to do it right and it takes a while to find what you're comfortable with. It probably took me like 3 years to get comfortable with painting and I'm still pretty much a beginner

Sorry if I seemed rude for not responding to you! I wanted to work off your advise before I let this comment disappear from my inbox.
I want to thank you a whole lot for the advice (for a random Internet sheep, you do give good advice!) I hope it's okay if bug you now and again to get more feed back, but for now I'll watch as much Bob Ross as I can!
Thank you again!
