Even Hero's circle is red, interesting. Or maybe all of.. Whatever they are.. have different colors?

It's so interesting to see how different they are personality-wise, while at the same time getting the stark contrast of how similar they look physically... and seeing Hero's eyes as that purple color is bittersweet.
"Assigned your duties" and "Understand the gravity of the situation" plus previous context seems to emphasis the fact they're in some sort of crisis, and that Hero and Steve were meant to be some sort of fighters, and especially with the fact that later on Steve was known by the villagers and stuff as the person who was "Supposed to protect them" implies that they're either in some sort of war or facing some sort of external threat. Maybe said threat has something to do with why everyone ended up turned into shadows?
But I have to wonder... what is Hero's duty if his role in life is "To be hated"? If the situation is really heavy and what-not, it doesn't seem like they'd purposefully make somebody to oppose them if they're really concerned with keeping peace, so maybe Hero's duty is less about the 'keeping peace', and more about the darker sides of conflict?

Not gonna lie, that's the happiest I've seen Hero in this comic so far, an I dunno if it's sad or not

Or did the process they went through somehow cross their wire, leaving Steve with some of Hero quirk?
I'm not gonna say Hero taciturn present self is because of that, because anyone going through shit would tend to become much more broody, so that doesn't work both way...
