Description
Wow, really Base? You're so out of ideas you're skipping this far ahead to characters like this? Well, yes. Also, Mina is a character I haven't drawn since the first time I saw her in a comic, and when I saw her I really liked her design(it was the clothes, the gloves especially), now, given, this is the first time I drew her...successfully.
But this is also in part due to a little story snippet that just popped into my head while listening to music. So, whether you read or not, enjoy the image.
At the very least, those of you who read, I hope you get one of those gut wrenching nostalgic feelings that give you goosebumps and make you wiggle with delight.
For those of you who grew up, I hope you smile a little before watching Maury Povich.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sonic's sixteenth birthday, the planet still held fast under Robotnik's tyrannical fist, but despite Robotnik's still crushing grip on the world, despite how little things truly seemed to have changed, they had, and for the better.
Knothole's population, as well as land in the forest had increased well, families were reunited, even if some were still Robians, as was the case of Sir Charles Hedgehog, for one.
Charles sat at a table near the newly constructed stage of Knothole, built under the suggestion of Antoine D'Coolette, who believed that theatre and shows would help raise the spirits of those who the war against Robotroplis had began to dampen. He couldn't have been more right, it had been an overnight success, starting with plays, moving to full blown theatre productions, from karaoke, to finding the hidden singing talent of some of Knothole's residents.
Rosie, Charles' wife as of two years back, sat next to him at the table. That year, Charles had been brought back to his senses by his young nephew Sonic the Hedgehog. In a brief return to Knothole, the two had revived a relationship barely begun before Charles' roboticization, soon after, they married. She was in part responsible for tonight's show in the theatre, as she had discovered the talent of young Mina Mongoose, who she'd nearly forced on stage for a night of karaoke. Instantly, despite stage fright, Mina sung wonderfully, bringing the crowd to a standing applause.
It had been Sonic the Hedgehog who'd saved her from a fate in the roboticizer, and for that, she was honored to sing at his birthday party. Charles and Rosie looked about, trying to find their son, Base, who they had adopted when he'd turned five.
"I don't think Base would skip out on Sonic's birthday party, Rosie." Charles said with a smile.
Rosie hugged the arm of her husband tightly,"Dear me, I certainly hope not, I know I taught the boy better than that...well, in the time we were able to teach him. The learning years go so fast, he spent all of his learning to fight-"
"Yet, you imbued enough sense in him to be a good child growing up, dear."
Rosie smiled, giving Charles a quick peck on his cheek,"Always there with the right words, Charles."
Before Charles could speak, Sonic and Princess Sally Acorn came up to the table,"Hey unc! Hi, Rosie. Been looking all over for you! You guy's seen Base? Tails is missing too."
The two looked at eachother, Rosie shook her head,"No, Sonic, I can't say we have. We were wondering if you two had seen anything."
Sonic shook his head,"Naw, haven't seen either of them, we're going to go search the outer rim of this party, maybe they can't find their way in?"
Sally nudged Sonic,"Tails can fly, and we'd hear Base from across Mobius if he was really trying to find his way to the middle here."
The stage darkened, a spotlight came on, Mina Mongoose stood on stage, her normal attire on her. She smiled and raised the mic to her mouth,"Hello, Knothole!"
A cheer from the crowd gathered at the stage, she continued,"Tonight we have a VERY special show for you! Tonight is the birthday of Mobius' biggest hero, Sonic the Hedgehog! For the occasion, I've asked two of Sonic's closest to join me on the stage, please welcome our drummer, Miles Prower!"
The spotlight turned to the drum set, Tails sunk behind it,"I HATE that name, Mina." he said, sounding defeated.
Mina bit her lip,"Uhm, sorry, our drummer Tails everyone!"
Sonic looked at Sally,"Sal, did you know Tails could play?"
Sally shook her head,"I had no idea."
Mina's voice called above the cheer for Tails,"Also, for our lead guitarist, we have Base Hedgehog, Sonic's cousin!"
The cheers came again, Base raised his right hand above his head, raising his index and pinky, the crowd cheered louder.
Sally blinked,"Who taught Base to play?"
Sonic coughed into his fist,"I might have given him a lesson or two."
Sally thought about how Sonic played guitar, and regretted asking,"Oh no."
Mina smiled,"And let's not forget all of my original band is here with me tonight as well to help with this song, now, its a special song, made just for today, with all the love and admiration of our hedgehog hero, Sonic, by me, cause without him, I wouldn't be here doing this today, I'd be in Robotropolis, most likely, screwing nuts and bolts onto SWATbots."
Mina turned around,"Ready guys? Let's go!"
The band played, it was a rock song, not one of the normal for Mina, but perhaps written to Sonic's tastes as his gift.
Blue streak, speeds by!
Sonic the Hedgehog!
Too fast, for the naked eye!
Sonic the Hedgehog!
Sonic smiled, Sally tugged his arm,"Come along with me, birthday boy, I owe you a present too."
Sonic followed Sally, the two slowly made their way to the back of the crowd, the audience too riled from the show to notice.
Sonic! He can really move!
Sonic, he's got an attitude!
Sonic!
He's the fastest thing aliiiii-ee-iiiiiive!
Sonic and Sally stood in the back of Knothole, the original village, just outside the crowd, Sally stopped and turned around,"Just wanted us to be able to hear eachother."
Sonic smiled,"So, where's the gift?"
Sally smiled, she threw her arms around Sonic's neck and kissed him hard on the lips, and tucked her head under his chin,"Happy Birthday, Sonic the Hedgehog."
Sonic smirked,"Well I turned sixteen, Sal, I think you need to give me another sixteen of those."
Sally raised a brow,"And why sixteen if I already gave you one?"
Sonic smiled,"Sixteen for luck and one to grow on."
Sally laughed and hugged him tighter, looking into his eyes,"Happy birthday, Sonic Hedgehog, and know you'll always have this princess' heart."
Sonic put his forehead to Sally's,"I love you, Sal."
Back at the party, the song was finishing up, as it came to its finish, the stage darkened, and the crowd cheered.
The End

Slight misunderstanding. I PAID for the art supplies, but when you run out of the store cackling about your evil plans, the cops take notice and are a bit too nosy for their own good.

Thanks. :3
I never really paid much attention to her, mostly cause I stopped reading the comics for a good while cause I didn't like the direction it was going, so I didn't really know much to anything about her til I picked them back up, not that they're much better now, but I suppose they're better than they were.

Thanks very much. ^^
Well most of my stories and images seem to center around telling my character's story and all, its nice to take little moments to shift the spotlight to the real characters and from the usual dark story to something either cute or romantic or something just...positive. XD
Thanks very much. :3

Pretty much my first thought seeing her in the comics. Somehow, it was like she had elbow pads over her hands, but it looked cool. XD

Her clothes are slowly coming undone, too... still, GREAT work on this.
Out of curiosity, not that I have much room to talk myself, but when will you try lining? You could consider doing it digitally if the permanent...ness of ink detracts you.

Yeah, her shirt was always sort of a loose fitting top, so I figure if she's on stage dancing and moving around as she sings its at the very least going to have one of the shoulder bands flop over. Thanks a lot. :3
Well, if I ever get a light table I can do it by hand, which is quicker in my opinion, which is why I prefer it, whereas with my tablet, it takes me for-absolutely-ever to even get a leg done, cause I do it, it doesn't look right, redo, over and over and over. If only they'd make a tablet where it projects an image of from the monitor on it and you just trace over it that way, or maybe one that has a screen that goes over your monitor and is see through and you just do it that way. tablets are a pain in the butt ._.;
of course, on light tables, I suppose I could grab a hunk of glass and stick a flashlight under it or something. Inking would be simple with a table, its color that I can rarely, if ever, do, cause I'm colorblind, most times I have to seek out other colored images to get the right colors.

Actually, I think there are "tablets" that are just like that, but they're much more expensive and not as easily available.
Regarding being colorblind.... OW...
