Well, a) I think it just looks unusually neat in this photo for some reason, it really was more messy, b) I did want to put my own spin on it, c) different things look good on different people, I'm not Heath Ledger, etc, and d) I was mostly counting on it gradually deteriorating throughout the shoot, and trust me, it did.
I remember, it even started raining near the end. Ah, good times.
