This is a very powerful beginning/introduction. I'm very interested in finding out what will happen next and what has driven him to this point.
The last panel is well worth the pain. I like the touch of Kei facing the sun, which is either setting or rising. The light reminds me of January around here, when the sun stays low above the horizon.

true, I never thought about whether it would be important if it was setting or rising, but either are powerful times of day in an artistic sense? I think in my notes it was sunset, but also sunrise would seem just as sad (or beautiful) time of day to end your life looking up at the sky. :>

Sunset and sunrise have their different symbolisms. Sunset hints at the end, riding to the sunset.
It's always darkest before dawn, if you have spent a sleepless night brooding over your troubles. Also sunrise can hint at new beginning.
Both are powerful images, to decide which you want to portray depends on your story and probably also cultural background.

This is beautiful ^^ I am too scared to create a full manga. I have so many ideas, and there is this one that I am completely confident with, but I feel like I won't be able to complete it because I have so much to learn. I'm one of those people that will start something but won't have the time to finish. It stinks because my studies interfere with my art xD. Anyway, this is a lovely piece and I truly admire your work.

I never knew that's what happened to Robert E. Howard. what a shame, the guy started a whole lit genre, who knows what more he would have done if he'd lived longer. . .

And yeah, it's a real tragedy. He couldn't handle his
mother's death so he shot himself. In fact it was about
a year before his friend H.P. Lovecraft died of cancer,
they were both too young for it.

I've been thinking of starting my own manga but I don't think I'm quite ready yet; I still have alot of things to master like hands, body proportions, weapons, effects, mystical creatures (dragons especially). Wow I have alot more to think of than I thought..... wow. ugh I'm such a fail...

I'm in the same situation. I'm rusty as hell and I've not tackled a full length manga before, only lil' dojins. my advice is just don't rush, take your time/research, sketch your characters and designs out beforehand in different poses and expressions, and get it looking the way you want. then go for it.

try it out when you're feeling comfortable with the idea. ^^ as it's easy to get put off if you're not. but don't forget about it! I'd been thinking about writing my own stuff for 10 years and it's taken me this long to get round to it - wish I'd got into it sooner~!

well yeah I've been thinking about it for a while, but I just don't think I'm ready yet; plus if I upload them here (which I probably will because this is what I'm on the most) my watchers might not like it and just ignore it; making me feel discouraged and probably to never try again.... so yeah, i don't think right now or anytime soon will be a good time to start. Sorry for dumping this all on you.
