Ergo Proxy is probably one of the most under appreciated series of recent years. Sure, it's not one of the best but it certainly is one of the most unique(a sci-fi mindfuck, as someone put it
) It ranks up there with Ghost in the Shell: SAC and Paranoia Agent on my list of anime I'd watch over and over again.What makes me love this series so much is the interaction between the characters.
(if you have no idea of what I'm babbling about, go watch it. NAO)The personalities of Re-l, Vincent and Pino reminds me sooo much of my own characters- Sam, Lex, and Mia. Even their relationships and interactions with one another hit close to home. The episode mentioned above, Episode 16- where they're all basically well, busy doing nothing
is my absolute fave. 
On a last note, if I ever had a daughter I want her to be like Pino
(she doesn't have to be an android, tho)I wish I had more time to color this, but hope y'all still like!

I agree, unlike Paranoia Agent which had probably the most awesome ending of any series. But they still managed to resolve most of the important plot lines. I wonder if it has something to do with it only having 23 episodes

Yes, at least the plot proceeded with a regular pace, and 23 episodes were enough for what the viewer was meant to understand or get.

Admittedly the final 3 episodes was noticably rushing to resolve the plot. I wonder what could happen if they finished the series with the usual 26 episodes.

I wish they i could decipher Ergo Proxy's true purpose for splitting himself.
Like, the proxies hate the fact that they are going to be destroyed when their creators come, so they kill their own creations and stuffs, but why splitting himself into two?
and how come the one who was the copy can survive the very thing that kills them?

I think it has something to do with his raison d'etre...
I think before the Pulse of Awakening, knowing his purpose will soon be over he wanted another "reason to live" and I think it's more than one. I believe aside from Monad Proxy, his other reason was to be "accepted" by his creations(the dome humans) as one of them.
So he left his memories with Monad and created Vincent Law. Unfortunately we saw how unpleasant his life was as an immigrant. He was distraught and scared(and very much emo) by the time the Awakening started. And I believe he, as Vincent Law, somehow influenced his Proxy half when it surfaced again. The result is the Ergo Proxy with a new raison d'etre- to keep on living to protect his friends and loved ones. (it took him the entire series to figure things out, tho

Yep, it's something you need to watch again and again. I think that's the draw of this series, trying to figure out everything on your own. So unlike most other stuff where we are basically spoon-fed

I always thought of Ergo as one of the best Animes ever made. Of course, I don't like anime very much, so the fact that I even watched it was a miracle. But still, I've been pretty much worshiping this show since episode one.

When I saw this for the first time I knew it wasn't for everyone, especially for those who like the usual anime fare. The fact that the creators even attempted something like Ergo Proxy makes them a winner in my book.
