The origins of this idea started out as Ash vs. the Daleks, but I never could pull the idea off as good as it seemed in my head. But I still filed the initial bones of that idea away, waiting in the wings for something to help make it happen. And this thing with Superman made me wanna have bad guys of the caliber that would cause some JLA involvement. The flip side is that I realized how much Dr. Sivana bore a resemblance to Davros in the Doctor Who universe, so I wondered what would happen if Sivana had somehow managed to survive onto another planet and created the Daleks? Or even if the Daleks fell into a wormhole in time and somehow hooked up with Sivana to create evil. They've never been above brief alliances like this so even if the JLA had failed I wonder if Sivana realized what trouble he was in with the Daleks.

I was also inspired by reading the first four issues of Grant Morrisson's JLA relaunch storyarc "New World Order", and the suggestion that of the JLA, Batman was the most dangerous. What if Batman discovered the secret of the Daleks and knew how to stop them ahead of time, like the White Martians.

Had I the Cybermen, I probably would have thrown Brainiac in the mix. Seems like the perfect crossover.
