Would be a nice ornament indeed!

how do you do these things, I used the formula and what I got was orange void, until I edited some scaling things but then it turned into something ugly.

The orange thing means that you're stuck with the camera into the inside of the shape. You can escape from it by pressing F6 in the 3Dnavi and moving forwards or in the direction you may need.
Personal hint:
Once you got some interesting bulbs increase the 1 min R (gt or eq 1) to 1024 and raise (or lower, don't remember now exactly) the Fold X, all in the AmazingIFS formula fields.
By this way you can shrink the bulbs to something more square like this above and play around
Hope it helps you a bit.

Is there any good tutorials on how to get things like these rather than random jumbles?

Very thankful Sabine Had to desaturate them, thanks to the sliders from MC. Heavy render for an dIFS, but liked the granularity from MC

That's what I like about MC too: granularity...and the diffuse light of course Β
