I suggest to start with bib993 's excellent tutorialΒ
if you haven't done yet. It is a good start point. Also please, if you tweak someone else parameters, it is due to give proper credits.
I used MengerIFS_B_2v0(1) formula here and don't come with MB3D, but you can download it here along many more (.m3f) drive.google.com/drive/foldersβ¦

Thanks for mentionning this tutorial even though it's outdated. Getting there is now easier with more recent formulas (JosKlein etc...)

Agree. Also Pseudokleinian on Mandelbulber etc.

The texture and the shapes themselves compliment each other nicely.
What kind of math is involved in making the fractal "fog"?

Fog is built inside MB3D. It can depend on many factors like the formula types, iterations and other. (Dyn. Fog)
It also depends on the Depth and Far Plane, so you can add more or less for to the scene. (only for depth fog).

Would the depth and far planes affect how thick the fog is?

No, it may depend on the colors you choose. Setting a low far plane, e.g. let's say 3.0, and very low depth you can cover almost the scene. It is a go and back through 3dnavi and main window.

Thank you a lot, finally could tame some menger thing, lol. In fact you can do the same with menger3, don't used the new features as far as I know. Think they can be very useful when you use rotations

Haven't had any time yet, I need days that last 72 hours for all the great things to do But will remember your rotation tip
Welcome, Jorge!

Superb image Jorge! Believe it or not, there's a guy out there who actually PAINTS this
sort of stuff?! Check out Peter Gric's work at: www.facebook.com/pgric/photos/

Thanks for the link, saw many of his works around the web
He's a genious. Wish I could approach just a bit of these works... Β
Very honored that you compare it to his works, Mark, specially coming from a master like you are

It is fractal art made with Mandelbulb 3D 191 www.fractalforums.com/index.ph⦠a fractal 3D program, and its free for use
You have here a great fractal community always pleased to help you. Take a look on the fractal groups were this picture is posted, there you'll find much resources on getting started with tutorials, programs etc.
Also you can go to the aposhack chat chat.deviantart.com/chat/Aposh⦠, there are always nice people willing to help you
