Description
Problem Solved

It sounds funny because the God debate is often portrayed as such a profound and insoluble riddle. But if you actually do Google it, you’ll find plenty of articles about untestable hypotheses, anecdotal evidence, Ockham’s Razor, and other useful info about how to evaluate claims, as well as info about evolution, cosmology, particle physics, and other relevant subjects. (I’ve even written a few myself.) Sure, you’ll also find websites like Answers in Genesis, but if you read everything that’s available, you’ll understand why it’s not called Correct Answers in Genesis.

So if anybody asks you why it’s irrational to believe in God, you can just tell them to Google it. And if they accuse you of naively oversimplifying a complex issue, just direct them here.

Examples of useful info that can be found by anyone who is genuinely inquisitive:

isn't it everyone's own opinion. he can be real or not real depending on how your raised and how u think. no one should hate someone bc of how they think...

To me it's not about whether it's real or not. It's whether it's moral.

That was a great comment. I am a christian and Iknow he is Real cause i talk to him. I don't talk to not real people.
So many thing show there is God and he loves everyone. Gays, straight, and other. I see his love in Budhists, Hindu, Catholic, Lutheren, and Athiest. He has sent all to me to compfort me in bad times and if he didn't then when why go on living. There would be nothing to look forward to. Never see family or friends who have left.
There is scientific proof through data that there is proof there is a after life through paranormal proof, archiology, and other science.
I didn't mean to go on and on but to sum it up. If haven't tried him don't knock him? I don't hate you I just feel bad for you.

That's actually well said. But I don't think Yahweh is real because many of the events like the Exodus were proven false. Is there a God? Maybe, I mean I personally think so. But I'm more apathetic about it because I don't really care. It's like if he's real cool, if not whatever. I think we just need to live our lives and not live in fear from something some reactionaries wrote 3000+ years ago.

i agree in some things you said. I love his words in the new testiment where he said "perfect love casts out all fear." I feel some relgious fanatics have brought to people what they thought is the word of God and shared how they interpret it. It is ment to be spiritually read not litterally. that is why Jesus told so many parables so those who are enightened sodaspeek would see the real meaning. I feel he was the first peaceful activist and He surely was God cause of how much he loved not hated. Agree or not agree that is your choice. BTW thanks for your great response.

Jesus wouldn't be the first since Horus did that in Egypt many centuries before him or any others. But no that's not my main issue. It's the fact that the bible has shown to be such an immoral book with the genocide and the suffering of people.

I understand how you feel. For me he died so i could live forever so that is why I love him. He rose to and 500 witnesses saw it. He did that cause what you mentioned. God never wanted all that senseless hate and killing. People are the ones that frustrate me not God or the bible.
Thanks for such a quick reply. God Bless you and keep serching, sweetie.

If he didn't want it then he shouldn't of done it. But historically speaking Yahweh was the god of war in the Canaanite religions while his father was Elohim and his mother was Asherah. The Hebrews were Polytheistic.

Jehovah does refer to Yahweh, that is true. The reason that comes up is because many people didn't to pronounce Yahweh because it was sinful. Basically Yahweh was Voldemort. Though I prefer Voldemort over Yahweh any day.

Unfortunately the statement "God does not exist" is not provable or unprovable. Nor is the statement "God does exist". You can't prove or disprove the immeasurable. It's like trying to measure love, grace, faith, or any number of qualities that are not quantifiable.

I don't understand the big hoopla about it all anyway. What's the difference if some have faith and others don't? It has no bearing on anything. Everyone can believe what they want to believe and there is no harm in that. The exception is when views are forced on others such as teaching creationist views in schools. But neither should people not be allowed to pray in school. If you want to pray, go ahead.

Much to do about nothing.

Loving the amount of controversy over this piece of Art. To be honest, I think it's a good thought provoking piece. There are dozens of people who claim that they are right because they "googled it", I know several. (my grandpa for one..)

I'll just throw in my 2 cents too though, for teh lulz.

I'm Theist. It's basically agnostic, but leaning towards there being a deity of some kind.
I believe that if there is a God, he made us in his image for a reason. The guidelines in the Bible were put there because of the state that the world was in at that point in time. Nowadays, the world is a completely different place, thus the stuff in Leviticus etc. isn't set in stone.
I believe that if God is real, he/she/it is testing us to see how we make decisions and moral choices. Will we rely on him or will we make it on our own?

Oy vey! lol Okay for all you believers and non-believers just listen..lf you're fighting this submission, don't... look, It is what it is. I never usually comment on these anti religious submissions but this is getting ridiculous. If you believe in God good for you. If you don't good for you. Noone cares. This is an ART site. Can we please get back to art? Literature photography paintings...this is nothing of the sort. What everyone keeps forgetting is that Non believers have fact and believers have faith. One side is fighting with logical ideas and the other with divine ideas. Fact and faith are NOT the same thing so to continue fighting with our much different arsenal is freaking stupid. Stop trying to prove the other right or wrong. Nonbelievers you dont gain anything by trying to take someones hope from them and believers you dont gain anything by tirelessly trying to change a set mind. How about we all just wait to die and see who was right in the end hmm? and for the love of God, STICK TO THE ART.

Is it wrong to believe in the idea of God?

Does the idea of God HAVE to be linked with a religious one?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Supyloco In reply to TheCreatorOf4 [2012-06-10 01:43:03 +0000 UTC]

No and no. I would agree with you there. I think the problem for me personally would be whether it's moral or not. Not really god but religious scriptures.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCreatorOf4 In reply to Supyloco [2012-06-10 02:14:48 +0000 UTC]

Worship is a choice, but never universal right, and that's the message of atheism I support along with attacking the religious delusions.

But to attack a philosophical idea of just what God is... does NOT sit well with me...

"The Bible tells a myth"

That makes sense, and might even make a stronger impact.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Supyloco In reply to TheCreatorOf4 [2012-06-10 02:31:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I get what you're saying. But saying that the bible is merely a myth isn't going to convince anyone. I think what would convince people would be the actions of the bible.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

TheCreatorOf4 In reply to Supyloco [2012-06-10 18:23:19 +0000 UTC]

Morality is a subject I study passionately, but I consider it a different topic.

Once someone told me the "The Bible is a myth," and it was enough to get me thinking and soon enough broke me away from my delusion when I was a kid.

Before that it was always "God isn't real," and I never took it seriously.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Supyloco In reply to TheCreatorOf4 [2012-06-12 06:15:47 +0000 UTC]

But I think the subject of morality is more important than whether it's true. Because you can have fiction that teaches something. whether good or bad. If people looked at the bible from a moral standpoint, then I think there would be less Christians.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCreatorOf4 In reply to Supyloco [2012-06-15 18:00:49 +0000 UTC]

The problem is, where do they get their moral understanding from?

The bible.

So everything in their bible is morally good.

You have to break the delusion of their fantasy.

What "actions of the bible" are u refering to. Alot of the bible isnt actually saying stuff how it looks directly like in genises where Lot tells them to rape his daughters instead of the angels(he is being sarcastic like saying why dont u take the food off of my table or shirt off of my kids backs)

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Supyloco In reply to TheCrypticCritic [2012-06-12 06:16:53 +0000 UTC]

So it's sarcasm that the bible tells you to execute someone for putting on a sweater or eating shrimp?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheCrypticCritic In reply to Supyloco [2012-06-14 02:23:48 +0000 UTC]

Shrimp and other crusteations could not be kept fresh back then and by the time they were eaten they would have gone bad(things like shrimp go bad quicker then fish usually) and they could cause more than food poisioning because the enviroment(like bowls they were put in) was alot dirtyer than today. So it could be that as a warning the man was executed to keep others from dying from diseases that they couldnt cure with theyre lack of medicines in that time.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Supyloco In reply to TheCrypticCritic [2012-06-18 01:44:43 +0000 UTC]

Wow that's logical. Kill someone so they won't die from food poisoning. You know looking at it, the Canaanite tribes were very primitive and to be fair stupid. They were nothing but a group of people who craved blood in the name of their gods. Elohim, Asherah, Yahweh, Baal. Just to name a few, gods they worshiped.
