Problem Solved

It sounds funny because the God debate is often portrayed as such a profound and insoluble riddle. But if you actually do Google it, you’ll find plenty of articles about untestable hypotheses, anecdotal evidence, Ockham’s Razor, and other useful info about how to evaluate claims, as well as info about evolution, cosmology, particle physics, and other relevant subjects. (I’ve even written a few myself.) Sure, you’ll also find websites like Answers in Genesis, but if you read everything that’s available, you’ll understand why it’s not called Correct Answers in Genesis.

So if anybody asks you why it’s irrational to believe in God, you can just tell them to Google it. And if they accuse you of naively oversimplifying a complex issue, just direct them here.

Examples of useful info that can be found by anyone who is genuinely inquisitive:

That sounds like something Hitler, Mao, Stalin, or any dictator in history that has made that excuse. But here's the thing. Even if that was true, why? If he's all powerful, all knowing, and just omni. Then why would he make it so complicated to fix these problems. Either he's not that or he's evil. And if you're going to say that Satan does these bad things. Then tell me this. Is Satan more powerful than Yahweh?

god is not hitler or any of the rest. he takes great misery in hurting anyone.plus those dictators killed millions of people for one thing, their own greed.god doesnt want to completly control us, unlike those dictators.he did fix the major problems with the dictators and is still fixing them right now.

Actually all the dictators I listed died of natural causes and were never tumbled down. But here's the thing with Yahweh. He killed all those people for his vanity. He couldn't stand people practicing their free will in worshiping other gods. The first commandment which was that you shall have no other gods was a pact between him and the Hebrews since their originally the Abrahamic religions worshiped other gods like Baal, Asherah, and Yahweh's father Elohim. Yahweh didn't want to be just chief god, he wants to be the only one. And he sent to kill the worshipers of those gods. What about the flood. Didn't it kill the whole population along with unborn children. What about the end of the plagues in which he killed the first born of the Egyptians. The guy killed children because of one pharaoh. But you didn't answer my question. Is he more powerful than Satan

He killed them by making them sick. Plus why would u want other people worshiping something that doesnt exist. thats like saying it makes sense to let a kid worship some bedtime story monster.obviously he is more powerfull than satan, you must not be thinking about what im saying very much.wat those children would have grown up as would of almost certainly have been as bad as their parents if not worse.only a few wouldnt have been. the unborn and very young children probably went to heaven anyways

I think this could possibly have been presented in a way that was more aesthetically pleasing. the message aside, it looks a little, well, amateurish.

as for googling for god, that is a joke right? and anyone who took it seriously needs to get the rod out of their ass.

I grew up in a religious family but it wasn't FORCED on me. I'm actually glad it wasn't, because I was able to develop my own opinions and beliefs. Sure, I'll admit I was one of those Jehovah's witnesses knocking on someone's door. But I was a child and I didn't know the difference then; BUT what I do know is that I'm open to religion. Whether you want to talk to me about God or not, is ENTIRELY up to you. BECAUSE you cannot change people, no matter how hard you try. I'm not baptized because it would certainly be hard for me to be Catholic / Christian (I know they're the same) / Jehovah's Witness / and Atheist. I've been through it all already, seen it all.

I find it best FOR ME to have my own personal relationship with God. Because when I feel like I have no way out, I feel better talking to GOD. Sure to you, it might seem like I'm crazy and I'm talking to an imaginary person. But it's not like I do it in public or where people can see or hear. Like I said, it's personal.

On another note; something I learned the hard way. Don't EVER get into an argument with an ignorant person. Because no matter how HARD you try, you'll never win. And in the end you'll only look ignorant yourself.

HAVE A NICE DAY! (:

I like how one of the people arguing in favor of God being real and throwing out accusations at everyone they think is an Atheist just joined today and has absolutely nothing in the gallery. I'm not saying I'm for either side, but people like him make it hard to appreciate god if followers act so insane.

Its not gods fault that some people dont let homosexuals live in peace. If god didnt exist the same thing would still happen anyways.

If your god was all powerful and all loving, it wouldn't allow for homosexuals to suffer. So yes, it would be god's fault because your god is responsible for the universe, having created it and all.

Humans could not grasp the idea of a God. I believe in him but I also believe "people" back then hate homosexuality, because people wrote those holy text that God hated homosexuality. "People" is the reason other people are atheist (too) because they are preaching their own idea of God.
but in the end we still don't know, we can only guess.

I'm an agnostic by the way

The people god killed in the bible were sinful and were obssesed with sex and/or didnt care about anyone but themselves and killed other humans and he tried to help clense the world some by getting rid of those people. And didnt he say that if there were only 20 people in lots town(dont know how to spell it)he wouldnt destroy it for the sake of 20 people. Lots wife actually went back to the city btw it uses alot of hebrew figureitism (i think that is the right word)And u dont really know what u r talking about so i sugest u stop talking like u know everything about it.

Supyloco In reply to TheCrypticCritic [2012-06-12 06:31:44 +0000 UTC]

You are aware I use to be a Christian right? And you are aware I'm not an Atheist right? The bible isn't very specific as to why Yahweh wanted to destroy these towns, just that they were in his eyes sinful. And he's very picky about sin and yet at the same time not. Like he orders an execution for touching a dead pig but is okay with polygamy. And yes you'll bring up "Thou shall not commit adultery." But think about the time as you Christians always make me do. The law applied to women. Like the reason it was made was because many men were stealing other men's wives, which to be fair isn't cool. But it didn't stop men from marrying multiple women. Men were allowed to have sex with any woman they pleased as long as she wasn't married. Also circumcision doesn't have any real health benefits. What, you think I can't wash my own dick? No it was made as a ritual to say that you were to serve Yahweh and it was done to anyone who was taken over by the Hebrews. The reality was that Hebrews were war mongers and hypocrites who made the Canaanite God of war into the chief god of their cult. Judaism began as a cult of personality until it became a religion when the Torah was written. And this wouldn't be a problem but Christians just don't follow the law of levi as much they say they do.

TheCrypticCritic In reply to Supyloco [2012-06-22 17:19:06 +0000 UTC]

U have to mean it if u ask for forgiveness because if u do then u will probably be in complete misery. i dont exactly want them in heaven but we cant do anything about it now can we, and i think he probably doesnt let them go if they killed or raped multiple people. they probably cant ask the victims for forgiveness anyways because they either are not around or they wont even talk to the person.

i didnt call it bullshit, there is a reason we dont know about for many things remember we r humans. we dont understand everything.i didnt say they didnt deserve heaven, they r probably more sane then the rest like them because they truly want forgiveness and feel horrible about what they did and sometimes after a certain point you cant really get them more miserable than they are.

He got rid of them because they went so far away from what he expected. They did things that are horrible and the people that do things like that today will eventually get what is coming, god is fair and does not take any pleasure in killing people. There is a big circle of reasons and humans can only see 1 tiny peice of it.
