Muscorch is based on a medieval mythical creature known as a "Muscaliet." The Muscaliet is a hybrid of a Squirrel, a Hare, and a Boar that gives off tremendous amounts of heat, so much that it kills the tree it lives in(or under, can't remember).

This has made me realize that I apparently have a subconscious interest in pigs. Seriously, about a third of my fakemon gallery has to do with pigs if you include Searel, and I have a ridiculous amount unposted concepts based on pigs. It's quite a surprise to me.
