Description
Troodon was a small, carnivorous dromaeosaur-like theropod dinosaur that lived during the cretaceous period. It was an interesting animal since was like a Mesozoic convergent evolution of an owl. Like modern owls, Troodon had huge, foward-facing eyes that had incredible visual acuity, and it's ears were asymmetrical, allowing it to detect prey using a tactic called triangulation. It could have also possessed a facial disk that allowed it to capture more sound, much like a sonar dish. However, despite these striking similarities, Troodon was not directly related to owls at all. Owls evolved from true birds during the Paleocene epoch, a couple million years after the extinction of all non-avian dinosaurs including Troodon.ΒRelated content

Ye. The idea originally came from to me when I heard of the discovery of one genus of troodontid having asymmetrical ears like an owl.
