I am ridiculously impressed with the headpiece.
I don't know what else could look like fire if not this.

Thank you so much!
We really wanted to get the "fire within" with traditional techniques.
There was a lot of time researching the layering of light and product.
I think this is what really kept the image from being just another black light paint or just another "slap a red gel on the light" shot.
There's just something more "real" to an in camera "glow" that gives Joseph something fresh to work with in his digital compositions.

It looks very molten, very hot. I like how the colors were so bright, some may say that fire is more muted and dull but I think to get the point across here dull wouldn't have accented it so very well.
I can ONLY imagine the time researching this must have taken, because it honestly looks just gorgeous. I think you did accomplish the fire within - I wish I had the patience to learn body painting, from the looks of your gallery it's truly fun.

We wanted the menace of a lava field.
There's a certain eroticism to the brittle shell that belies the true danger just below the surface.

It certainly worked. This one is my favorite out of the ones uploaded though because I think it also gives you the sense that the model is getting in to mischief while also being quite dangerous xD

If this isn't a fire elemental, then I don't know what one would look like.
This is truly so very well done... i love that there is a mixture of the skin and makeup. I like seeing the flesh shine through in places because it looks like the fire is shining through from the inside and singing the flesh as it comes out.
Simply amazing.

Thank you!
We worked hard to come up with a design that would glow from the inside out....
I was seriously considering Christmas lights for a while!

I absolutely love the makeup effect you have accomplished here. I actually prefer this image over the image that has been edited with the added flames. I look forward to seeing your future elements!

Thank you.
I might post another "before" image.
Just haven't had time to pic one.
It is very different working on a design that is INTENDED to be edited.
Very different set of requirements.

That would be awesome to see more before pictures. I am always amazed by what can be done with your techniques. I can imagine what it takes to do what you do whether it is for editing or not. Always impressive!

There WILL be a body dredged in glitter!
The edible shoots really well.

Dredged just brought to mind images of you rolling a model around on the floor in a pool of glitter

I have visions of me running around coated in glitter bawking. I can't decide if it's hysterical or terrifying.

I suppose that would depend on the color palette?

any relation to your fire or ice build that you had in mind?

Yes. But enough technical roadblocks presented themselves that I know I need to change some things in order for this look to hold up to an all day event.

At this point, I hope I live long enough too!!!
Joseph and I have always pushed each other to the technical limits. I keep expecting an "epic fail" at some point.
Been lucky, hasn't happened yet.
