Description
Casper the friendly ghostThe friendliest ghost you know...
Though grown-ups might
Think him a fright
The children love him so...
Casper the friendly ghost
He'll never be bad or mean,
But rhomp and play
Sing and dance all day-
The friendliest ghost you've seen
He always says "Hello"
And he's really glad to meetcha
Wherever he may go
He's kind to every living creature
Grown-ups don't understand
Why children love him the most
But kids all know
That he loves them so
Casper the friendly ghost.
I plan to do more with this picture, but I just wondered how I could handle drawing 60+ year old cartoon dead people.

I did a ~1100 page fan-fic, but the last 100 pages was a struggle with burn-out. You might see some opening pages of book 7Β on my user-page.

Well, Casper and Wendy have been a couple since before the movies, back in the old cartoons. Personally, I kind of don't get how something like that could work out between a guy who's none-corporeal and a girl who is. But hey, it's cartoons- who am I to question the logic. XD
When it gets into the movies, however, some of them seem to be set up in their own sort of separate alternate universe- given that some characters in one movie don't appear in another and are never mentioned again, so Casper can hang with whoever fits in the mini alternate universe of the movie he's in.

They were just friends... and they had a lot in common. Β Caspers' uncles were jerks, and Wendy's aunts were witches in every sense of the word. Β And apparently witches and ghosts have a long-standing rivalry, or at least these six did. Β They couldn't stand the thought of the kids playing together.Β
Kat's name was originally supposed to be "Wendy", but it was changed due to a legal wrangle. Wendy appeared in a later film (though it was a prequel to theΒ first) played by Hilary Duff.Β

In the movie and cartoon she appears. In the new cartoon Casper's Ghoul School, he seems to like the zombie girl, and in Caspers Haunted Christmas, he seems to like whats-er-name... Holly.
Keep in mind, he IS a FRIENDLY ghost. He tries to like EVERYONE. XD

Memories: I remember seeing the initial Casper cartoon. The opening narration was something like: "For those of you who like ghost stories, this is a ghost story. And for those of you who don't like them, well, this is a ghost story anyway."
I remember one Casper that was populated by backlot rustic Irish stereotypes in which Casper was mistaken by a kid for a leperchaun. I learned years later that the Irish can take or leave ghosts, but they take the "little folk" very seriously.
And then there was "There's Good Boos Tonight" from 1948. Though the title was pretty much generic, as were most of the cartoon titles, this was memorable for something more to be expected of anime: Casper befriends a non-anthro fox kit who ends up getting killed by a hunter, but the "happy ending" is that the ghost of the fox kit takes up where he left off as Casper's friend.
Thanks for throwing the memory switch.

When I saw THAT cartoon on TV I did 2 things.
(1) I threw a magazine at the TV set
(2) I swore never to watch another Casper film ever again !
I kept that promise until they came out with the Casper feature film and the cartoon series that was based on it.

I've heard of that "There's Good Boos Tonight" episode, but thanks to peoples trying to make it seem like non of that "Scary Politically Incorrect" stuff ever happened, I've never seen it... T_T.
Personally, my favorite Casper cartoon has his uncles feeding him meanness pills to get rid of his good self. Casper turns red, sprouts horns, and starts doing all sorts of nasty stuff to THEM... In the end, he removes the horns, turns back to his usual white color, and winks at the audience before going back to the "Devil" personna. Who knew he had it in him? Lol.

Take my advice, DON'T watch "there's good boos tonight"!
When I saw it on TV, I threw a magazine at the TV set ! I also refused to ever watch a Casper film again ! Reading the synopses of the early Casper movies (prior to his Harvey comic version) merely justified my decision back in the 50's.
The comic book adaption of that "Devil Casper" cartoon left out the physical change, but did NOT explain how Casper caught on to what the pills were supposed to do, and faked the change.
His actions were similar to one of the OC's in my 1000+ pg fanfic,Shining Pyramid, (Ripsack, the Evil Casper from an alternate reality where roles are reversed.) Ripsack, Idnew, Ykoops,Lirp and the man-eating Daymare cause a lot of trouble.
I also tossed in Casper the Friendly MAGICIAN from another alternate reality. There it is Wendy who is the ghost and she assists Casper. His uncles at Hangnail Hall are using magic to commit crimes.
