Description Fanart of the New Zealand cartoon series Staines Down Drains. [link] [link]

I've seen a few episodes, but I like what I see. My favorite characters are Herk and the evil Dr. Drain.

I might do a pic of the villians later, but this was just a sketch to try drawing the main good guy characters. I messed up on Mary Jane, she looks like she fell on her head at birth here.

I love everything ABOUT that show. I did two fanarts, btw. The other one is of Dr. Drain and the Gobblers.

I want the DVD. They don't show the show On Demand anymore.

Well, it's an austrailian show- it was probably announced in austrialia, if at all.

I keep wanting to get it but something in me's worried about the region code

Shows like this one brings so many memories back to me when I was younger when they aired the US. Now I bet they don't make cartoons like they used to be in the 80s and 90s even 2000-2004 or 6, anymore it's sad that they change everything now that the show network companies think new shows would drag more attention but it somehow sometimes gaining less attention at some point at my prospective.

Well, like one thing I read recently a lot of people in the U.S. still consider cartoons a medium for kids only... Now, while Stanes Down Drains does appeal to kids, it has kind of an underlining deep thing to it that causes everything to appeal to adults as well.

Or ME at least.

Honestly, I do fanart of things that nobody bairly knows about in hopes of attracting attention to them for the average person... Most of the time I just get people who are already fans, but it's still good.

Veggity Bill by himself sounds like a character you'd come up with.

Funny you should say that, I have a character called Bill...

Veggity Bill is the big guy here. He's a mutant carrot. He'd fit right in with A Monster Thing.

"Mutant carrot". That's just cool.

The expressions you use in your characters never cease to amaze me.
They're all very well done. My favourite is that little boy, he looks pretty freaked at that slug thing xD
Great stuff Battybuddy

Looks like you got the characters down good, at least from what I've seen of the show. I want to know where I can watch it.

[link] where I've been watching full episodes.
Staines down Drains is located under "Comedy" and you have to suffer through a bunch of ads.

As you might guess, this whole thing makes for a very interesting sense of what is or isn't "Clean".

battybuddy In reply to ShaneJensenToons [2008-12-10 01:23:08 +0000 UTC]

Well, not so much... The key theme of the series is "Balence" so the mess is countered by tidy. Even among the muck, theres a sense of order and cleanliness.

You should see one episode in particular-

Basically, the episode has it being Stanly's birthday. He doesn't really like it cause his mom every year gives him a CD of a guy he hates that mom thinks he likes. Also Mary Jane gives him a goldfish and promises to design his party.

By accedent, the goldfish ends up going down the sink, and Stanly, thinking that Mary Jane'll hate him forever if he loses it, goes in after it. He ends up getting captured by his PAST pet goldfish who want revenge... And who have found a way of life around the vary same CD he tossed down the sewers.

They got another cartoon you might like (That I didn't previously know about) called Nick and Perry: about two aliens that look like dogs who crashland on Earth and are adopted by a girl.

Oh, theres a channel called Kabillion. It mostly shows old 80's cartoons (Bobby's World, The Real Ghostbusters, ETC.), but they have a website(www.kabillion.com) where you can see full episodes of their cartoons for free... I stumbles on Staines Down Drains accedentally (Apperently they're not airing it, yet) and got hooked...

If you have a fast-enough connection and don't mind constant commercials, you can probably go there yourself and check out a couple episodes, if you want.
