Description Late Miocene, coast of North America. One of the largest terrestrial carnivorous mammals, polar bear size Pseudocyon came across an angry four ton male of walrus Pontolis magnus.

About size of mordern elephant seal, with skull length ca. 0.6 m.

Stem walrus, greately less specialized than mordern one (or related forms as Valenictus or Ontocetus). Many primitive walruses probably looked more alike mordern sea lions.
