Description
Ikaronycteris is one of the most famous bats fossils (if not the most). However, I'm tired of it being constantly portrayed as some kind of winged hairy crocodile. Ikaronycteris was a full-fledged bat, although it did not fly too well, and should look accordingly. So here is my vision of Ikaronycteris sleeping peacefully on a tree bark 52 million years ago in Wyoming.Β (Although this can also happen in Europe - the remains of Ikaronycteris are found on both sides of the Atlantic.)Related content

Its an Ikaronycterid, probably prior to split between Yinpterochiroptera and Yangochiroptera.Β
