I haven't uploaded something in a few months, so i decided to upload a WIP of my newest painting.
I painted everything in GIMP with a mouse.
Anyone some critique?

- absolutely love it. the shading is spot on and the mane is, as others have said and will say, very realistic. the face is very expressive. there's only a weird bit on the chest. i'm not sure what it is but it appears off to me.
i want to ask you a small question. i work with GIMP and a mouse as well, is there a chance you could tell me what brush settings work the best for you on manes? i've been getting closer to a good one, but i can't seem to find the perfect alliance of settings to get it spot on like in this image.

Yeah, i still have to change the chest.
I use for the manes a hard brush, and mostly all sizes, a big brush for the base, and smaller brushes for hairs/details. Here you can find some more settings: [link]

Wow.... how you do all that with a mouse I will just never understand. I didn't realize you went bit by bit like that. That's certainly something different. It works! xD

Het paard ziet er heel erg goed uit. Alleen nog wat meer oefenen op de spieren, want zijn borst ziet erh eel erg bobbelig uit.
Alleen de achtergrond mocht ongeveer in dezelfde stijl gedaan zijn, want nu is het een stijlbreuk.
Anders de volgende x gewoon een soort neutrale achtergrond met wat schakeringen.

Niet dat de achtergrond lelijk is, hij is zelfs mooi, alleen past hij niet echt bij het paard
Maar voor de rest goed. Zeker de manen bij de hals. Geeft zo een beetje renaissance sfeer of zoiets xD
