Hehehe, every photographer has to shoot a bunch of colour pencils at some point in their photographic journey. It's like shooting the moon or your toes in the bath...some things, every one must do! Personally, I haven't shot the pencil thang yet, but I can feel it coming!
It's amazing just how many different ways one can shoot a bunch of pencils! This is the first time that I've seen this composition and I like it a lot.

OOOOOOooooo, Colorrrrssssss, how big is the soft box you used to light this if you don't mind me asking? It's been a great while and I have missed shooting in the studio but it is a learning experience for me to see someone like you who has great control with the lighting and also exposure..Keep it up: )))
