I have to admit, her mother and father did make a lot of mistakes and were wrong to look at her as weak because she's blind, but I think they really did love her. She herself said they were doing it to protect herβ¦ and I believe she reconciled with them in the comics. But this is very sweet. Β

I wouldn't be surprised if in the next season we learn in a flashback that Toph didn't allow her parents anywhere near Lin while she was growing up.

I can definately see this in Korra. Toph's parents always want to lock her up saying it was for her own good because of teh fact she is blind. Now that Toph is a mom now she wants to make sure she never makes the same mistakes like her parents and do the most important thing that her parents never did that drove her away.
Accept her child for who she is.
