"There are two cowboys in the kitchen. Which one is the real cowboy?" Garfield asked.
"I don't know." Kori responded.
"The one on the range." Garfield and the others started to laugh. Except Rachel, who, once again didn't find him funny.
"Come on, Rachel, why don't you laugh at my jokes?"
"Because, you're not funny." She glanced up from her book for a second, "And I'm getting slightly irritated with you trying to get me to laugh."
"Lighten up, Rachel." Dick looked over to her.
"Okay, ya'll let's change the subject. Who is going to the dance next month?" Victor said swinging his arm around his girlfriend, Karen.
"I don't do dances." Rachel quickly responded.
"You don't "do" anything, Rachel. You just keep your nose in your books all the time." Garfield said.
"What's your point?" She asked, slamming her book closed.
"Ever since you moved here and we all became friends with you, you have just brushed by us like we're nothing. Why do you have to be so creepy?!" The bell for school to end chimed and Rachel quickly stood up and left. The others just looked at him with a shocked expression.
"What?"
"You should go apologize." Dick suggested.
"Yes, you were quite mean." Kori chimed in.
"She's the one who should apologize. I don't even think she considers us her friends."
"Dude, just go apologize. And I would love to stick around but I have football practice and my little lady has cheer practice." Victor left holding onto Karen's hand.
"Gar, you know she's had a rough life. You are just as much a jerk that you are accusing her of being." The anger on Gar's face slowly left as he realized how much of a jerk he was to her.
"Besides, we all know you have a huge crush on her." Kori said smiling.
"I do not!" He yelled back as his face flushed red.
"Yeah, you do. And she does to." Dick said with a smile
"Yeah, right..."
"She does. I've seen her doodles in her books." Kori responded.
"I have an idea, why don't you ask her to the dance?"
"And risk getting hit, no thanks."
"Just go. She walks home, you might be able to catch up."

It was a brisk autumn day, luckily Rachel had worn her indigo hoodie. She pulled the hood over her head and began to walk home. She clutched her belongings in her hands, slightly upset from what had just occurred.
"Why do you have to be so creepy?!" Tears began to well up in her eyes. She blinked them away. 'I'm not creepy.'
"Rachel!" She stopped when she heard her name being yelled in a breathy voice. She turned and saw Garfield running towards her.
"What do you want?" She asked with coldness in her tone.
"I'm...sorry..." Still trying to catch his breath.
"What?"
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I called you creepy. I'm sorry for always being a jerk to you. I'm sorry, okay?" Rachel dropped her things and hugged him.
"Um...Rachel..." Garfield's face was bright red.
"Yeah?"
"Do...do you like me?" Rachel pulled away and turned around picking up her things.
"Rachel?"
"Hm..."
"You didn't answer."
"If I didn't like you, why would I hang out with you?"
"That's not what I mean and you know it."
She left her things on the ground and stood up, facing him.
"And what if I do like you? What are you gonna do about it?" Garfield cupped his hands around her face and kissed her. It was a quick peck on the lips, but it was enough to cause Rachel's face to brighten her skin tone.
Garfield smiled, "You look so cute."
"Shut up..." She turned her face away.
"What I really wanted to as you was, would go to the dance with me next month?"
"You know I don't do dances."
"Come on, please. If you get bored, I'll take you home right away."
"Fine. I'll go to the dance with you."
"Sweet. I guess I'll see you tomorrow."
"Yeah." He turned around to go to his house.
"Gar!"
"Yeah?"
"I do like you." She smiled at him. A real smile, one she hadn't been able to give since she moved there.
"I like you too."
