WARNING: RANT AHEADThis may be even more than my ChristineXRaoul argument.
Why do people hate Cosette so much? She and Marius fell in love with each other at first sight. They're freakin' adorable together! Fine, you feel pity for Eponine because of that unrequited love crap, but she really wasn't all that great(at least in my opinion). She pulled a lot of the same things that her parents did. And in the book she gave Marius a note to go to the barricade because she wanted them to die together! WTH you crazy bitch?!
Cosette and Marius are the only ones in the book who have a truly happy ending. Leave them be!

I love Cosette, she and Fantine are honestly my favorite characters in the story. One thing I will admit that I don't like about the musical (don't get me wrong I love it to bits but even I can admit that my favorite work of fiction is flawed) is how underwritten they made Cosette seem. I wish they kept I Saw Him Once in later productions because not only is it just a beautiful song but it gave Cosette more of a character PLUS she's the only major character to not have a solo song (okay there was Castle on the Cloud but I was meaning adult Cosette). Now I have just got started on the book I am barley far in but one thing is I feel like they should've given Cosette more screentime than Eponine because she is far more important to the story.Β
I get that Boublil and Schonberg wanted to make Eponine more sympathetic and wanted their own take on the character but STILL, they could have given more room to Cosette.Β
I'm going, to be honest, I find Eponine to be a very overrated character (her fanbase made me like her a lot less) and while I don't hate this song I find On My Own extremely overrated and very overdone. Don't get me wrong I can understand why people like it, it's a very relatable song and at one point it was even my favorite BUT IΒ got tired of it recently.Β

what i really don't like about Eponine (among other things) was it was heavily implied that she was already involved with Montparnasse. I hated Marius's grandfather for being so... lecherous and I can't get over it in Eponine either

I just like Eponine better because I can empathize with her more. That's also why I slightly dislike Marius.

Marius is just stupid! Yeah, Eponine was plotting their death together, from her viewpoint that is the happiest route out for both of them. Yeah, that is messed up, but the genuine love and care was there. Although not fleshed out, I do think Cosette is a good choice for Marius. Both of them, and their simple everlasting love, really symbolize how good and love can appear in the darkest of times. So overall, their relationship sends out a vital message in the book!

I'm in love with Marius (so long as Michael Ball is playing him). lol Unfortunately, I can't have him *whaaah* lol so he and Cosette are perfect together. I love them - they are one of the best canon couples in music theatre history.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Marius, Cosette, or Eponine, but Marius and Cosette are a couple and Hugo states that clearly. I like Javert, Combeferre, Enjolras, and Joly the best. They have nifty characters.

i used to dislike Cosette, but after reading the book I like her a lot more.I think it might be a case of in the book, Cosette was there first, instead of in the musical where Marius and Eponine are friends before Cosette comes along. Personally, I love Marius and Cosette's story - I think its really sweet!

I don't mind Marius...and I don't like Cosette. But for some reason I don't like their relationship. It's too dull and lacks depth. But at the same time...I really dislike MariusxEponine. The whole point of Eponine's character is unrequited love. So ship her with Marius and she's an entirely pointless character.

I don't like MariusxCosette because I find the whole "love at first sight" thing kind of far-fetched. I mean, he knows her for a day and suddenly wants to run away with her?
And even if Eponine gave Marius that note so they could die together (which I don't remember, but I haven't read the book in a few years so i'll have to trust you on that one), she died saving his life (more so in the book than the musical).
I'll admit, I like Cosette more in the book than in the musical. Also, I feel like her character stays pretty static. Nothing changes much.

Marius is a boring nerd. Cosette is badass in the book. I can't stand Γponine, even less her fangirls.
And frankly, I couldn't care less about the characters who live at the end. Everyone I cared for died. Hugo is more evil than GRRM, really.

All three characters, Eponine, Cossette and Marius are characters worth disliking. All three possess no admirable qualities and quite frankly all three are dense.
The only difference is Eponine has balls, Cossette's pretty and Marius is an intelligent duffus.
There's nothing wrong with your pairing. CossetteXMarius is definitely better than Eponine and Marius (can't she just have Montepanarse and call it a day?)
The only problem I have is your choice of actor. Why not Steve Shocket or Lucius Walter or Michael Ball? Anyone but Nick Jonas. The only part he got right was not being old.
This picture is a good prime example of lacking acting abilities. Just look at the way he's looking at Cossette. He looks really angry-like angrily questioning her singing.

Well, I chose this picture because all of the actors in the other ones just looked...too old.
And they are all kind of annoying. That's why Valjean is still #1.
How funny would it be if he did decide to shoot Marius at the barricades?

I think Cosette and Marius are cute; Marius just annoys me. I don't get what people have against Cosette either...she's a sweet girl and she didn't even KNOW Eponine loved Marius, so it's not like she was intentionally breaking the girl's heart or anything.

I'm neutral, Eponine and Cosette both have their good qualities.

Haha, awesome. I dislike both Cosette & Marius due to their lack of depth. They're like the only two characters Victor Hugo didn't love enough to really flesh out
