A sneak look at my latest project. An Arkham Batman project for DC Digital. I can't get over how cool it is to draw two such iconic characters. And I can't believe how much I enjoy drawing Gordon. Marvel has banned all smoking in their comics-- not sure but maybe as a result of Disney being their parent company. But at DC we can Gordon smoking all he wants. Yay! Not that I smoke or anything, but it's a wonderful visual to have.Related content

Love the drawing! Marvel actually banned smoking because of Cup-O-Joe. I think after his dad died from cancer he didn't want any more smoking characters... But it is kinda ridiculous. I love that Gordon is smoking again in comics, it's just so Noir and perfect!

Really? No smoking in their comics. Wolverine is known to smoke a cigar from time to time, its what helps add to his badassery. You're right that is an awesome visual; that completely sucks to have that element taken away.

I don't get the Disney censorship. I thought they bought Marvel because they know this market and know how to be successful at it, something Disney stinks at. So why step in and tell them how to run a business they have been handling fairly well since the 1930s?
Marvel creates a product that is appealing to young males, something Disney has trouble with.

I wonder if they allow Wolverine to still drink? I haven't picked up a Wolverine comic in years so I assume that might be an issue to go along with the no smoking rule. After all we don't want young fans to be encouraged to smoke, drink, and slash up people with blades coming out of their fists
BTW, I have no idea if it's a Disney policy being passed down to Marvel. Like everyone else on the internet, I'm just talking here.
