Hi! Iยดm again! 17 or 18 now!
This pic is amazing, but can I ask something?
Iยดm a begginer amateur, and when I joined in dA I submited some pics to some groups with a little overexposure and the all groups declined because that. This pic "the big red hulk" is a little overexposed (woman arm) but for me this is to compose the scene, right? Anyway, my questions is if overexposure is a bad thing always, or if it can be a essential thing in some cases. Thanks!

It helps to have a proper calibrated monitor. There is no overexposure in this image. Really. Pull it into PS and measure it, if you don't believe me.

But to answer the general question: No. Overexposure is not a bad thing. I don't care at all about technical flaws, the only thing that counts is if a picture works or not.

Well, I agree, but for a moment I had impression that everbody thinks that it is always a error. Since this fact (APN and others groups) I never asked about it, and I acept as a defined truth. Thanks!
About your pic, I undertood! (I did not a critique ) I loved it. I saw now that there isn't white points. Anyway, I asked because when I saw the model very bright with too contrast by sunlight I couldn't imagine in other way!!! The bright was a part of the air of the scene, for me... But this (if it was overexposed) was against that they told me in critiques..... So, I decide ask you after add your work 16 times! and I undertood your message and agree 100%. Thank you!

Let me give you the maybe most important tip for photography in general: Do you own thing, make the photos you like and *DON'T* care what others say about it. Your work will improve by the natural increase of your technical skills and you will get the pictures YOU like. Not the ones, that others think are good. That's important. I see so much folks shooting for internet groups, forums and others... thats BS. Shoot for yourself and shoot how you like it. That's key to sucess. Regards, B.
