Wow it's been a loooong time since I've posted anything. I've been busy with a lot of art projects but most of them I had to wait until I could post them.This is one of them-- I finished it some time ago-- Was requested to do the cover of Kolchak for one of the comics. I had no idea who Kolchak was, did a bit of research and luckily Netflix had the entire series available to watch online!
I spent about 5 days painting this, and watched the whole entire series. I am now a lover of Kolchak, he's so awesome!
I have a few other really nice commisions I'd like to share, in due time.

This is great, Brittany! There was an effort made to have the character of Kolchak appear on the X-Files (a little more timely for you) but for some reason McGavin didn't want to do that. It was cool that he did guest star a couple times as a different character though.
They also did an "updated" remake of this series in 2005 but it only lasted a few episodes. And rightly so...it seemed pretty forgettable, unlike the original.

Oh cool! Yeah I wouldn't dig the idea of the remake too much either. I get the feeling they would have butchered it anyway. It was something about McGavin's acting that just fir the character to the T. wouldn't want to see anyone else take that spot.

It seems like even the remake had its fans but what I specifically didn't like about it was that they seemed determined to make it "slick" with two fairly young and attractive leads. McGavin was over 50 when he played the part and Kolchak didn't fit into the 1970's contemporary culture at all - and that was part of the charm. He was just perfect.

Yes! Finally! A Kolchak work of art! He is one of my favorite shows that I actually grew up with on the SyFy channel when it was still SciFi.

My parents had me watch this series when I was young. I loved the character, and it was wonderfully written. Pure gold compared to most of the paranormal shows these days.
Great cover. I like how the apparition is almost melded into the wall.

I'm a littl ol 80's baby so I was completely in the dark about Kolchak but he does have such a great personality. The characters are all so well written. Kolchak is a pure picture of a man who really loves what he does because in spite of all the beautiful women he encounters he never falls for one of them!
