In the Genesis storyline, Sin and Izuna do exist, but they seem to have developed a bit differently: Sin ages a bit slower than he does in GG2, and Izuna seems to have shrunk... a lot. He also has a fluffy tail pinned on for some reason...
Genesis is sort of like an alternate version of GG2: Overture... Not entirely like it, but sort of.
Anyway back to the picture:
Sol is holding 'minizuna', trying to figure out how he got so small.
...And a young Sin looks on...

...Canonically speaking...
Ky was crowned King in 2183, at that time his Wife was pregnant.
The Maiden of the Grove began experiencing Sublimation a few weeks prior to the events in Overture.
The Gear Sublimation Incident (Overture) takes place in 2186.
So that means that Sin's growth spurt is over the span of 2.5 years thereabouts.
Izuna learned about Sol and Sin via his acquaintence with Dr. Paradigm who somehow managed to learn Sol was Frederick and asked Izuna to fetch/rescue them.
