Description
...So I created these characters based on the idea of preceding Assassins Guild leaders...Slayer is not pictured here, because he keeps these particular portraits in his home
The Divine Intervention was an elite syndicate organized by Slayer.
Members of this syndicate were unique individuals who were veterans and/or survivors of the Crusades, as well as close friends. Together, they researched tomes and artifacts, Magic and the Occult, and later organized many conspiracies.
As government authorities became more powerful, their plans needed to become more elaborate. Many of them later resorted to mapping and assigning specific targets, hoarding weapons and ammunitions, as well as training assistants; causing their syndicate to later evolve into the Guild of Assassins.
They are (from left):
Seraphim: a former archeologist who lost his job and position during the crusades. Not long afterwards, he met Slayer, who offered him another chance for employment. This of course, resulted in an alliance between the two.
Tora: A very skilled Japanese man who has mastered his abilities in the art of Mizu (Water/Liquids). He was, however, quite selfish in that he never wanted anyone else to have his powers and abilities. He had also proven to be a very harsh and neglectful leader to his subordinates. He always despised emotional individuals, because he felt that emotion was "nothing more than an elaborate obstacle".
Surprisingly enough, he was eventually overthrown and killed by his lowest-ranking subordinate: Zato-1, (with the help of Eddie). Zato reveled in his victory, and took control of his old master's division soon afterwards, but still seemed haunted by the old man's words.
Eidolon: A strict, but quite social and considerate man. Not much is known about him, because he resigned from the syndicate soon after it's transition into the Guild of Assassins. He was the first and only of Slayer's accomplices to resign from the syndicate, cutting all ties with Slayer and the others. Slayer however doesn't seem to miss him very much.
Niamh: A young woman of grace and dexterity. She held her most primary interests and practices in Music and History.
Unfortunately, she was murdered, and her killer was never found/identified. This resulted in good and bad consequences: tensions arose between the division leaders, however, they began to turn their attentions toward their subordinates as a result.
She is succeeded by one of her underlings: Sawyer
(Bottom row from left):
Viktor: A powerful and compelling man who lead his division in his home of Russia. He was known to have the best and most loyal followers of all divisions. Despite most of this praise, he was proven to be overcome with jealousy, particularly with Seraphim and Tora, who had the abilities to discover and harness magic abilities. This often manifested in his occasional outbursts towards Zato-1 shortly after Tora's death and Slayer's acceptance of Zato's claim to leadership.
At that point, Viktor despised Zato-1 and had resolved to kill him by fighting fire with fire, (or in this case Forbidden Magic with Forbidden Magic).
As a result, Viktor and his assistants feverishly studied types of Forbidden Magic. He eventually settled on the strongest: Angra
Too afraid of the consequences of Forbidden Magic, he held forced rituals on his subordinates. Despite numerous trials, only one of his youngest underlings survived the ordeal: Millia Rage.
And so, he turned his attention towards the girl, putting her through a strict and brutal upbringing that was only intensified by training her Angra.
When the time came, Viktor finally sent her out to assassinate Zato-1. This, of course did not end as he'd planned; both of them teamed up against him, and Eddie delivered the final blow.
After his death, Millia, along with what was left of his division joined Zato-1.
Rune: A tall, rigid man of few words. He was the one responsible for the undertaking of orphaned children into the guild. Although he doesn't speak much, his leadership skills are quite adequate and he is known by his comrades to be quite charitable at times.
Recently, he has all but sunken into obscurity. He is presumed dead by the fact that his faction was eventually divided by his two successors: Eth and Lacuna.
Hemlock: She is described as well-composed and independent by nature. She is renowned among her comrades for teaching her subordinates how to improvise on their missions. She holds the title as the most cunning of the Assassins. This, unfortunately, changed in her later years. Even Slayer admits that she seemed to become more cold and ruthless in her old age.
She too saw this change in her behavior, and would often use it to her advantage in her leadership skills.
Like Viktor however, she caused the death of many of her own subordinates, although in Viktor's case, the large number of casualties were accidental, whereas in Hemlock's case, it was for punishment and/or the chance to prove a point.
She also despised Zato-1 and his quick ascension to power. Not caring about the consequences, she set out to do what Viktor had failed and sent one of her better-trained subordinates: Venom to assassinate Zato-1.
Her plan, of course, backfired when Zato caught Venom before he could complete his mission. When caught, Venom was overcome with fear of failure, and, consequently, imminent torture and death. Zato-1 had spared Venom without hesitation, and in turn, he learned of Venom's fate should he return to his master. Venom joined Zato-1 not soon afterwards. As Zato had predicted, Hemlock eventually approached him in search of Venom. He forced her to face him in combat, and she begrudgingly complied. Eventually she was defeated by Zato and Eddie, and cursed his name as she was swallowed into the shadow.
Whew! That was a chore to write!
And if any of you took the time to read all of that, then you have my personal thanks! I really appreciate it!
Enjoy!

Wow you're brewing quite the interesting origin around the guild. At first glance i was attracted to Niamh, but after reading in on her death, it was sort of a bummer.
As far as the drawing goes, Viktor would have to be my favorite technique wise, the rendering on that fur is stunning. Second to Viktor's portrait would be Niamh and Rune, those two have the strongest expressions out of the bunch. Rune also has a warm color to contrast everyone else, so he stands out. Something about the frame borders feels a little off to me, i think maybe toning down the light source on the outside edges would help. It feels a little weird to me, can't figure out what the primary direction of the light is.
Excellent work, I'm looking forward to seeing some of these guys in actions, at least the ones that are still alive that is.XD
