Description So, I thought I'd make a more up to date version of some Ref sheets. Since when I first started Angel of Death, I didn't really know where I wanted to go with the characters, and have added much more depth and story to them since then. I'll probably make one of these for Chara. Someday.

But yeah, I imagine Frisk being insane. In this AU at least. I haven't seen enough of that, I always see Frisk either being entirely emotionless or being a harmless pacifist, with Chara being portrayed as either the total good guy or the total bad guy. Usually the total bad guy. I wanted to mix it up a little. I know that it's the player that causes all the harm in Undertale, but that seemed hard to incorporate into the comic. So Frisk became the player. Maybe Frisk started out being fine, but he was driven to madness one way or another later on. The only thing that snaps him back into sanity is Chara stealing his soul and taking his place. Perhaps it was seeing everything from Chara's view, maybe it was seeing someone else do the exact things that he had done, but something made him want to stop it. I think the real reason is because he knows that Chara is looking to erase the world, thinking that it's what he wanted to do. So Frisk wants to stop her, because if she erases the world, he can't reset anymore. And if he can't reset anymore, where's the fun? So even when he's supposedly doing the 'right thing', he at least starts doing those things through selfish motives.

Man, I do not view Frisk in a very positive way, do I? Well, I do adore insane characters, so I still have an amazing view on him from my point. Other people can think what they want.

And don't get me started on the gender thing. Yes, I see Frisk as a boy. But I really don't care if people refer to Frisk as 'she' or 'them' since that's what they prefer. I'll just state my opinion quietly and not try to shove it down anyone's throats.

Aand, yeah... I think that's all.

Have a nice day.

Why do you believe someone would get bored with a loving family?

I think that one can get bored of anything if it goes on for long enough. Plus some people's psychology just works that way.

So they might not have been entirely sane when they first fell down?

Yeah I think he was already a bit messed up when he first fell down. Especially if he somehow hit his head on the way down.

I always appreciate it when someone takes the time to construct a very unique, distinct Frisk rather than go with the overdone perfect angel we see so often in fanworks. Having him constantly reset after killing is a very refreshing angle to take rather than just opt for the one note Michael Myers approach most take to a genocide run. It also explores an aspect of the game's design that's often overlooked, as even on a pacifist play through Frisk can wantonly murder monsters for fun but avoid saving so it never sticks.

Making him on the older side is another nice touch, since putting Frisk in their mid-teens allows them to be more mature an cynical but doesn't feel contrived when other characters refer to them as child. By the way, what made you decide that Frisk should be a boy and Chara a girl (Not that I'm criticising your choice, I'm just curious).

Thank you ^^ This sorta makes me want to actually continue the comic that he's in as soon as I have some free time x) When I first played the genocide run I found it impossible to see Frisk as a pacifist ever again, because I don't think the genocide run is really Chara's fault. That fact that he looks so emotionless just became unsettling to me. Also I was sick of seeing the same 'pure Frisk' and 'evil Chara' everywhere and wanted to make their characters a little deeper than that.

Yeah, I can't imagine a young child being able to do the things that he does. Besides I think 14/15 is one of those ages that you start acting more cynical and start trying to be more mature. It was for me anyways. And nothing really specific made me decide their genders honestly. I just thought Chara sounded like a girl's name and couldn't really see that any other way, and I thought Frisk sounded like a boy's name. Plus I thought that making them opposite genders could make the way they act or think about things a little differently and have an interesting effect on how they choose to deal with things. Those are the only main reasons I can think of right now anyways.

Do you really think most people would become that amoral if they had the ability to reset?

Maybe not all people, but I'm certain quite a few people would be driven over the edge by the power.

beanbagbrianna In reply to whitebearboy [2017-07-15 13:39:06 +0000 UTC]

I imagine that he was sweet when he was younger, and maybe on rare occasions he is when he's older. Mostly, he's much more salty than sweet currently. XD

beanbagbrianna In reply to whitebearboy [2017-07-16 06:58:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, of course. I just thought it would be more fun and creative to portray him as a more 'evil' type of character. Plus my go-to portrayal of him isn't exactly a perfect pacifist child. XD

whitebearboy In reply to beanbagbrianna [2017-07-16 18:34:33 +0000 UTC]

Got it. I've always thought of Frisk as a little sweetie, since that's how I play the game, and also because a kid their age would probably still be pretty innocent.

To have the power to change the world, but to know that at the slightest touch it can all be forgotten, your achievements, your loves, desires, your faults, mistakes, and regrets, when the whole universe holds no consequence.

Everything seems pointless, and boring.

So what more can one be driven to do, than too entertain themselves!

Great work, wish I could draw as good as you!

this is amazing

beanbagbrianna In reply to Myfuzzykins [2016-10-07 01:36:28 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Yeah, I've never viewed Frisk as being completely good, not even while playing the game.

His expressionless face sort of creeps me out. It's like a mask hiding all sorts of intentions behind it.

Whenever I saw people portraying Frisk as the absolute perfect pacifist, I was always sort of confused. I don't think any character in that game is completely good-natured. (Except Papyrus, of course)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Myfuzzykins In reply to beanbagbrianna [2016-10-07 13:55:44 +0000 UTC]

Heh, papyrus is an innocent little cinnmon roll and must be protected. I hope to start of reversetale again sometime soon and trust me, Frisk is not a perfect person in reversetale.. its more that they arent strong enough and too weak-willed to kill, they probably would kill if they had to and if they could

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

beanbagbrianna In reply to Myfuzzykins [2016-10-07 21:19:53 +0000 UTC]

That's a pretty interesting take on Frisk, too. One who is willing to kill, but physically and mentally can't pull it off.

Yes! I don't see enough of this kind of Frisk. People make excuses, portray him however they want to. Try to push the blame onto Chara, or excuse Frisk for influencing Chara. It ignores that the game has consequences, that people are truly in control of themselves and when they make bad decisions, they get horrible results.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

beanbagbrianna In reply to 5th--Dimension [2016-10-07 00:02:28 +0000 UTC]

Yes! Especially since, (if what I think is true) Chara died wanting to help save monsters. So where would any evil intentions that she's portrayed as having come from? Not to mention that she supposedly helps you win the fight against Asriel by showing him one of her memories. So she had to be influenced by someone or something, and who else but the person she becomes attached to? The person she wants to help get through the underground. And who's to say that she grows so attached to this person, that she starts acting in evil ways to help him instead of trying to betray him?

I've never seen Frisk as being entirely good or Chara as being entirely bad. Honestly, I found Frisk's emotionless face to be quite unsettling to look at. It made it seem like you didn't have complete control over that character, that they'd do what they wanted despite your choices.

And that's how I got the idea for having AoD Frisk be this way.

...Frisk is somehow as old as my parents are, and looks to be the age people often think I am. I am going to channel my inner annoyance onto him.

Neither of us has a particularly positive view of Frisk, huh? Still think I'd prefer to meet mine over yours...
At least when mine is feeling unstressed they can be normal. Ish. AOD Frisk... I really don't want to meet him in a dark alley?

beanbagbrianna In reply to LKWayvern [2016-10-06 23:08:13 +0000 UTC]

Wow. What a lucky guess. XD And I'm sure he'd just love to have your annoyance. Just keep a 10 foot radius between each other.

Yeah... this Frisk is not one you'd really want to meet in any dark alleyways. Or ever.

Now I'm curious as to what your Frisk is like? Assuming you're not talking about the humans in the Triad  series.

LKWayvern In reply to beanbagbrianna [2016-10-06 23:11:44 +0000 UTC]

I am a senior in high school but for some reason everyone thinks I'm a freshman. No idea why, since half the freshman this year are like a foot and a half shorter than I am.
And I will keep my distance. My feet will be 10 feet away from theirs and I will lean forwards with a smirk on my face to taunt them.

Yyyyyyep.
If I do encounter them there

My Frisk is one of the Runners.
...Actually, two of the Runners are Frisk at different times in the story, and the third is Chara possessing Frisk.
Should be easy to guess which is which, so it's not a particularly big spoiler if I tell you that. XD

beanbagbrianna In reply to LKWayvern [2016-10-06 23:27:39 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I know how you feel. I'm a Junior, and I take a bus that drops off both high school students and junior high students, and I always get the weirdest looks when I get off at the high school. Like "Hey, uh, this is the wrong stop, person. This is the school for big people."   I'm not even that short, I just sort of look odd I guess. xD I'm only short enough to get made fun of and teased by my tall friends.

And guessing which Frisk is which SHOULD be easy, but it's me we're talking about here. So I'm gonna say... Geno and Paci? And Chara is the one within Inner?

I hope that's right. xD

LKWayvern In reply to beanbagbrianna [2016-10-06 23:31:58 +0000 UTC]

I think it's either me being kind of scatterbrained sometimes, or it taking me several seconds to realize what a piece of slang or an innuendo means, that makes people think I'm a freshman...
Actually today someone thought I was a sophmore. So... progress??

Geno Runner is Frisk.

Paci is Chara. Because you see it is a Soulless Pacifist Run. :3
Inner Runner is so very very confused by basically everything going on. Especially who this 'Chara' person is.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

beanbagbrianna In reply to LKWayvern [2016-10-06 23:37:40 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I was close. I think it was the whole Asriel thing that was throwing me off, and how much he addresses Frisk as 'Chara.' xD But that's actually really cool that Chara's the Paci, all I've really seen is Chara possessing Frisk to start the genocide run, not the other way around.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LKWayvern In reply to beanbagbrianna [2016-10-06 23:42:04 +0000 UTC]

That is exactly why I selected Chara to be the Paci Runner.
And why I picked un-possessed Frisk for the Geno Runner.
Because I dislike preconceived notions, but I love manipulating and shattering them~

Also doesn't Asriel call you Chara throughout basically all his boss fight? >:3
