I'm working on an unofficial Terminator game project with a small group of people. You'll play as a resistance member.
And thanks a lot!

o3o That sounds like fun, FPS, TPS, is there any RPG elements?

Yeah, it's an fps. Currently we're very open to gameplay elements since we're very early in development.

-thinks- Interesting.

Maybe late into the game you could have the option to reprogram a T-800 and maybe play as it ... but only late into the game.

Um, well everyone loves upgrading their character so ... maybe a way to increase your stamina to sprint, your sprint speed, maybe climbing speed if your game allows you to climb up ledges to gain the high ground.

I don't have an dea to be honest. :v

Any idea on weapons you may include?

We will be having a T-800 programming part with a high detailed model of the head and whip.
Not bad ideas, I know we will be having collectable items of references from the films.
We will definitely have the plasma rifle.

Perhaps, if you don't mind me pitching in some ideas, perhaps if your character starts with older weapons, like projectile firing guns on an AR platform, maybe they unlock better/more effective ammunition types which work better against newer machines like armour piercing.

What Terminator models are being used?  Just T-800s or will older/newer models be in the game too?

Yeah, any ideas can be helpful at this stage.
We will likely have it so you can find weapons and that sort of thing.
Currently we only have the T-800, which I made over last summer and someone found it on my artstation account, and asked if I wanted to help them make a game.
We also have a HK tank and HK ariel, but do want T-600s too.

Very interesting.

I think the projectile firing weapons idea might work.  If you have down time between levels or if you can go to a Resistance base get different ammunition types.

That might be a sort of ... side thing to do.  Resistance Research: Learn more about the enemy.  Develop new weapons, ammunition and armour. (Then eventually) Reprogram Terminator CPU.

To do those maybe you'd have side missions per mission, capture Terminator CPUs forcing you to shoot their torso rather than their had, or capture an endoskelton.  Something or other. Just ways to "pay" for the research. You could do a "timed" thing like X-Com but, I don't think that's how you want your game made.

Maybe as your progress through the game, depending on how long time passes in the game, you get promoted and command your own squad.  That'd be interesting.  You and a group of five AIs.  You set up an ambush site for a Skynet Convoy, a group of T-600s, T-800s, a Tank and maybe some other ground based machines. You set up explosives on the floor, anti-tank mines.  Maye CPU mines, set up a "kill-zone" around them for the ambush, a sniper up high in a building and a rocketeer incase of Skynet aerial assistance, then have squad members hidden on the ground till its time to attack.

Maybe, perhaps, you can use salveable parts of damaged Terminators and put them together to make a useable machine fit for reprogramming.

I too had a Terminator game in mind years back.  You could play as a Human soldier or a reprogrammed machine, an early unitlike the T-400.

As time goes by the human soldier would get better equipment and weapons, the reprogrammed Terminator would have its "memories/mind" uploaded into newer CPUs and newer machines. So you'd become a T-500, a 600 an 800 etc.  Then after becoming an 800 you'd have the option for skin sheathing, so a little bit of "customise character" options to look how you want as an Infiltrator.  My idea never really got that far, but it was kind of based on my Terminator canon for my stories.  So not too canon sadly.

But I think what you guys are doing sounds great.

Depending on which point of the war the game is set in, the Plasma Rifle may be a weapon recieved later in the game like midway through.  An interesting possibility, that way you'd have to think on your feet, "What weapon is best for this situation?  Sniper rifle? Shotgun?  Assault Rifle? What ammo type?  Explosive? Armour Piercing?" rather than just dousing your enemies with plasma.

Some great ideas here, thanks.

The possibility of having teammates or reprogrammed machines will be better once we start work on a decent AI to improve gameplay.
Right now we just have HK Arials flying overhead that will shoot you when in range, and a HK Tank in the middle of a street that will do the same.

It will be interesting to see how various weapons will work since we can't have the player carrying around a plasma rifle all the time, that would be overpowered.
A simple idea for that would be to have to find battery packs for it.

Or maybe being forced to take energy from enemy rifles via jump cables or something.

Infiltrators I think would be an interesting enemy. Especially if it's say a little earlier in the war and 800 series infiltrators are a new thing.

You could be leading a group of refugees to a safe location full of other humans and not know an infiltrator is among them till it switchs it's objectives to attack.

Kind of like the "Nightmare Terminator" in the first movie.

For weapons, I'd like to see pistols, but then again their use would be limited.  Maybe smaller calibre pistols work against weaker earlier machines.  Then have like some sort of Handcannon/Desert Eagle/ Revolver, thing at the end loaded up with depleted uranium or thermite. But that's not an important point.  Pistols (even stronger ones) would be a last ditch weapon.
