Description
Just messing around today. I really want to explore this more in hopes of some day painting comics. Or visual development for animation or whatever. This was drawn with an HB pencil, then watercolored with some Winsor and Newton student grade water colors, and then touched up lightly with some colored pencil. And I slightly messed with the contrast in photoshop.... only slightly.

Man, the techniques you used in this look really great. I would've messed it up by adding ink, so I'm glad you showed restraint in that regard. I really, really enjoy the colors in everything.

thanks Josh! hopefully some day, many years from now I'll get a chance to paint a comic... but I think I have much to practice before then... like backgrounds and environments. how are you doing?

did "nintendo's a bunch of tard's" not sum it up? Yea, I'm not a huge fan, i get paid less there than microsoft cause there's really no hiring process, so i end up on the same pay roll as those tards i mentioned. Imean, it's still 10 an hour to test video games, but nobody there knows how to test video games, which pisses me off constantly. If there was any sort of interview they had to go to before getting this job, i think me and 3 other people(out of the 150 that work as testers) would get the job. but all they do is have an orientation, then tell you ur start date. I can't wait to go back to microsoft!

Oh man! And then you go off doing cartoons. Why don't you just stick to your own brand of art and let us feel good about ourself.

haha, dude... after watching Ratatouille, I got another dose of inspiration to do cartooning. the last time I was so inspired was the Incredibles. it makes me happy to do more animated characters... it's something that I really want to inject in my work on GI Joe too. more distinct characters and body language, etc.. if you can do realistic stuff then I should be able to do cartooning, biznatch!

This is great! It has that hard-to-achieve "Through the Looking Glass" quality. I'd like to know his story

Thanks! This is one of those things that was a very happy accident and now I need to try to replicate the process for future application. His story is pretty non-existent. I had him in mind for a collaboration with a friend for a short animation. Basically, he's a Knight waaay past his prime, but for some reason he's coming out of retirement or maybe he's forced to stay working as a Knight because he can't afford to retire... I'm not sure yet, but either way, he's gonna have problems.

That sounds very cool- I'll watch this space for more details. Reminds me a little of a story I started writing years ago called "Sir Kit and the Pickle Dragon" about a knight that doesn't relish battle any more....

How about an aged damsel in distress who's never been rescued? make a change from those post-modern kick-ass chicks anyway....

haha, yeah.... go against the mainstream by going back to the way things were.
the imagery of an older damsel in distress with an old knight makes me smile.
