Description Stuff like THIS comes out.

Okay so this was a warm up drawing so that I could get my last three requests done. Finally got a day off of work!

So yeh.. Dumb fanfic where Robot and Shannon became a thing.. Shannon saw her friends have kids and Robot was like-BUILD A BOT! And-he used his spare parts and Shannon's old brace to make... this thing.. Wow.. um.. kind of embarrassed to upload this now.. Should I do it?.. Yeh... Sorry guys... SO sorry.

Hmm, that would be very cool, yes. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future.

Thank you! ^^ Oh-dumb question. I forgot to reply to you about the episode thing, I've seen all the episodes and I think most of season one with the original voice. I'm actually looking for the redubbed version of PU to PE. Also, why didn't Greg follow through with the whole Robot originally being good before deciding to take over? I get Invader Zim came out a little before but the title would have made SO much more sense, and the show would have been even better!

I think you don't quite understand just how much Cartoon Network was meddling with Greg's creative control. There's the redub itself, which Greg was hugely opposed to, and he listed it as just one of many "other countless insulting executive decisions" that CN forced onto the show while righteously slamming CN on the Robot subforum (yes, that's a thing).

I recommend giving this post a read for Greg's insight into the whole mess.

CN's downright idiotic handling of the show also forced Greg to step down from the role of director of Season 2 (which if the show hadn't been fucked with likely would've just been the second half of Season 1, because how many cartoons do you know with six episodes per season???), and resulted in it being cancelled far, far before its time. Because unsurprisingly, disenfranchising viewers by removing one of the key appeals of the protagonist and airing episodes in the middle of the fucking night isn't great for ratings. Basically: If Greg had been allowed full creative control, then he would've been able to follow through on the planned ending, there would've been more episodes and the series would have been better overall. I still love it as is, but thanks to CN's interference, it's a shadow of what Greg wanted to make it.

(Also can we not compare Zim to Robot, because Zim is... infinitely more superficial.)

Geez.. You're right... I knew the voice change was a little bothersome to him, but I had no idea about the night airings and what not. Again I've never seen the show as a kid. Thanks for the link too! I'm reading it now.

Just to help further put into perspective how infuriating the voice change must have been, Greg worked his arse off to get Robot's voice right. In addition to working as the show's creator, developer, writer, director, storyboard artist, character designer, animator, composer (he actually provided the voice for the Groovesicle lead singer and created the song himself in a garage with some friends), and executive producer (in other words he was practically making the entire bloody thing himself), Greg personally handled the software used to create Robot's voice and meticulously tuned it, spelled out certain lines phonetically and did other things to perfect the delivery. You don't do that unless you're damn well passionate about what you're doing, and what does CN do in response? Take a massive shit on his work and remove one of the show's central selling points. He even had all of the lines for Robot's real voice ready for the episodes that would later be grouped into "Season 2", but CN made fucking sure we never heard any of those! Greg explained all of this himself in a Facebook interview, which I also recommend reading.

Note he also says he wants to continue the series but can't because they own the rights. FUCK CARTOON NETWORK. GUTLESS, IDIOTIC, ART-DESTROYING BASTARDS.

Okay so this is going to sound horrible, but Part of me wants Cartoon Network to suffer because of this DAMN Scheduale they have. Cartoon Network has made so many great shows, both old and new. Some of the newer things they're making are 'Villainous' and 'Welcome to My Life', but are THEY going to receive nearly as much attention as Teen Titans Go, this Ben 10 Reboot, or even *cringe* the Unikitty show they're working on? I love Unikitty but she doesn't need a show. Probably not. Even some of the 'bad' shows started to get a little better by the end of their second seasons after recovering from pilots and episode flops. Usually if a cartoon is given even just a few more episodes or decent air time scheduales it can rise above cartoons on competing networks. Robot Jones was not given a fair chance, AND IT CAME IN SECOND PLACE FOR CARTOON CARTOON FRIDAYS BEHIND THE GRIM ADVENTURES OF BILLY AND MANDY. The Pilot of that show was clever, but the only reason I didn't like watching it AS A CHILD was because Billy got on my damn nerves!

That doesn't sound horrible at all, Sherbert. In fact, I am in total agreement that Cartoon Network deserves to suffer for their horrendous business practices, from destroying art like Robot Jones to approving garbage like the Unikitty show to hiring actual fucking pedophiles. They're a malignancy and I genuinely want them to go bankrupt, partly out of spite but mostly because them going bankrupt would give Greg an easier time negotiating that they give the rights to Robot back to him. I'd kill to see the series as Greg intended it without interference, I really would.

INSTEAD OF REBOOTING GOOD SHOWS, why not reboot bad shows that or ones that didn't stand a chance? I hated Johnny Test, I felt like a mindless zombie whenever it came on TV, but could Cartoon Network improve it? ABSOLUTELY. Could they make Uncle Grandpa better? They started to by the end of season 3. Children are not meant to be mindless zombies that drool in front of the TV screens, we already have enough adults that do so. Cartoons are meant to humorous, thought-provoking, and dare I say it-ENJOYABLE! They have the writers, they have funds. Please make it happen.

It's gotten to the point now where I'm almost wondering if channels like CN are intentionally putting out the most mind-numbing crap imaginable to make kids dumber so that they'll more easily accept cheap, low-thought, low-quality content. I mean, their goal at the end of the day is to make money, I get that. But it feels like there's no balance between actually putting out some legitimate fucking art once in a while and just pandering to the lowest common denominator to make a cheap buck. Oh what, this show needs a bit of time to endear itself to people instead of just resorting to the instant gratification of PURPLE MONKEY FART FART FART randumb humor for idiots? Better give it the fucking axe, and hold onto the rights like a dragon hoarding gold so the creator can't take it to a more competent company.

Fuck CN. Just fuck them.

Unfortunately it's not just CN, Disney, Nickelodeon... At least back then a"bad" cartoon or show usually got booted off quickly... Good grief even animated movies have been reduced to dumb humor for the children and celebrity voice actors for the adults... Doesn't matter whether the animators were abused or not (cough cough Sausage Party) or if the crew members put a beyond-belief amount of effort and research into the film (Kubo and the Two Strings). You know what I found out about the film industry recently?? At the Oscars, the voters for the animated films pick what their children tell them to, even if they haven't seen the movie before! The industry makes me sick. It's still my dream to be an animator, even though I can see shameful films and manipulstive companies in my future...

Oh fuck, yeah, I remember hearing about that stuff with animated films and the Oscars. It's insane to me that in this day and age with cartoons like Rick and Morty and South Park (the latter of which has been around for over a decade!) and a million billion edgy animes, so many people still see cartoons as "just kids' stuff". No wonder the industry's downright bloated with corruption, nobody takes it seriously enough to keep an eye on it.
