Having a good camera also helps. Only problem is that the focus has to go through a chicken wire fence.

Ahh I hate it when they have multiple fences after fences at zoo's I prefer safari's or zoo's with glass viewing

Problem with glass is that you very often get reflections or grubby children's paws with remnants of ice-cream, chocolate and such.

That's very true, although most of the time I carry a cloth or something to wipe the glass with me And the I just put my lens right onto the glass until the hood touches it to try and get rid of the reflections
