Normally I used some kind of Pen Tool on Gimp and used layers; Line art and Colors. But there is even a better program from Adobe.. Illustrate?.. I don't know, I forgot :3

(this goes with the idea of the Harmony Crusaders, in which foals are adults and adults are foals ((i.e., Sweetie Belle is Rarity's big sister)))
Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria, there were two regal sisters who ruled together, and created harmony for all the land. Β To do this, the younger used her unicorn powers to raise the sun at dawn; the elder brought out the moon to begin the night. Β Thus, the two sisters maintained balance for their kingdom and their subjects, all the different kinds of ponies. Β But as time went on, the younger sister became resentful. Β The ponies honored the stars her elder sister brought forth with "constellations", but took her beautiful sun for granted! Β One fateful day, the younger unicorn refused to lower the sun to make way for the night. Β The elder sister tried to reason with her, but the bitterness in the young one's heart had transformed her into a wicked mare of flames: Solar Flare. Β She vowed that the moon would never rise again. Β Reluctantly, the elder sister harnessed the most powerful magic known to ponydom: Β The Elements of Harmony. Using the magic of the Elements of Harmony, she defeated her younger sister, and banished her permanently in the sun. Β The elder sister took on the responsibility of both moon and sun, and harmony has been maintained in Equestria for generations since.

It's just that, actually Celestia SHOULD be the older one, because the sun is waaay bigger than the moon (that was what I think of it), which is also why I don't think Luna will ever become as "tall" as Celestia. But that's just my theory, but it sounds good though!!

Assuming they go with Lauren Faust's concept, Luna WILL eventually become as tall as Celestia, though the show may end before that occurs. Β Luna is merely shorter because she is in "adolescence."

That's the strangest thing, Solar Flare was exactly the name I thought a 'nightmare moon'-ish Celestia would end up being called, and it was a name which popped into my head seconds before seeing this picture. So, kudos to you.

When I found out in an episode that Luna has the ability to change her shape into Nightmare Moon I was just thinking, "A Β heroic character who can utilize her inner darkness? Dear Writers, PLEASE capitalize on this some day!"

This would be a very interesting concept to see in a timey-wimey episode of MLP. Even if just for a moment, to see the way things Could Have Been, just a flash of a NightMare Moon version of Celestia going "The day shall last FOREVER!" would make so many fans freak out!
