Description This is the first illustration I did for the book. It was a kind of exam, to decide if I was going to do the illustrations or not. The liked a lot, the only problem being the nudity, but they decided very soon that they liked the way it is. so I disn't have to change it.

Watercolor and a bit of photoshop.

That's an amazing piece!
Reminds me a bit of a cross between David Mack's style and James Jean's.

It's just... Indescribably beautiful.

Daphne's expression is so serene, while Apollo seems to be in a state of desperation. The small details like the leaves, the crooks in Daphne's neck, the small strands of Apollo's hair that come from underneath his arm still...
You make it look as if it's touchable, as if I reach out to the screen I can feel the vines myself. The shades and the colors are just so very perfect. I cannot find a single negative thing in this painting.

...You did a hell of a job.

hey, this is awesome. but one thing kept my eye busy for a while. mainly, how did you do this grass effect? did you spill the watercolor on dry paper or carefully did it iwth small sharp round brush?
this is just lovely

Rock-n-roll. I got it.

I was laboring under the impression that it was accomplished with water color.

I really like your stuff. I would appreciate a chance to see your workflow. That is to say, I would love to a piece from start to finnish.

With me, my work starts with me randomly, very little of it is planned.

That's probably the saddest and most beautiful painting I've seen in a while... I love the way Daphne is slipping from Apollo who is bound to the ground and can't follow the love of his life. Amazing work though the computer graphics kind of turn me off.

It's funny how Daphne is so much more lively and colourful than Apollo. A is just bluish-white and looks very dying to me. It gives me the feeling of winter and spring as well... Hm. You're very talented.

Talescaper [2007-02-08 11:42:24 +0000 UTC]

This might just be your best work to date It does not really have that children's book quality that I've come to know from you, but something more mature, much more expressive and explosive as well. There's so much energy in there. Wow.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

BeatrizMartinVidal In reply to Talescaper [2007-03-19 17:15:35 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much Talescaper. Well, editor told me I have to do something very coloured and brigth, so I did this. And Metamorphoses is not for children so I did something more mature (at first I had some problems with nudity but oh well).
