Description These are a couple spreads from a book I created for my Advanced Typography class. Most of the artifacts and photos are my own creation. The book is about a fictional character I created named Sophia Marie Blume. She lived during the 1800s and moved from Chicago to San Fransisco around 1865.

It was a really interesting challenge to use the typography of that era for the artifacts as well as a more contemporary style in laying out the book. I also got to learn some bookbinding techniques, which I really enjoyed.

The character photo of Sophia is another one of my fellow co-opers, Cathy. I took her photo and photoshoped it into a dress from that time.

This project was a ton of work and these are just a few of my favorite spreads.

On the "Dedicated to the courageous women of the west" page, in the Thomas Jefferson quote, the sixth line down, you forgot 't' in 'the'.

And in the next page, in the J.L.B quote, third line from the bottom, 'honor' is spelt wrong.

I don't mean to nitpick, I just thought I'd let you know in case you wanted change it or make the file smaller so people can't read the text. But all in all, I like the layout and I thought the map graphic really complimented the other aged papers. Nice job.
