Tempest's lips trembled with a nicker from between the bars of the stall, calling for the girl in jodhpurs and greyish-blue sweatshirt who stood just outside of her reach. To her immense pleasure, the girl's hand unlocked the stall that held Tempest and slipped inside. The filly whuffled her lips about her pockets, searching for treats of any kind.
"Later," the girl whispered, stroking her nose. In her arms she carried a small blanket and a saddle. She carefully lifted it onto the filly's back, talking to her to keep her calm.

A cold breeze blew lazily through the hall, clinging to tufts of Tempest's fuzzy forelock and letting it drift in the air as it swept along. The filly stepped good-naturedly after the rider, following her into a small field. She held her head up, looking out over the pastures and yard of Smoky Ridge. She hardly noticed as the girl lowered the stirrups and tightened the girth a bit. A treat was held out for her, along with soft words of praise, much to Tempest's delight.

The girl disappeared from view, and after a few moments Tempest found that a weight had been added to her back. She snorted in surprise tried to break into a canter.
"No, no.." the person on her back spoke. "Woah, you're fine."

After nearly a half an hour, Tempest had begun to settle down, and walked with the rider on her back for the first time in the three years of her life. Once she had seen that the girl meant no harm, she made no effort to unseat her. After all, she was the giver of the apple-and-oat flavored horse biscuits.

The girl stepped off quietly, and rubbed Tempest's nose in delight. "That's a very good girl." she whispered, and led her back to the barn.
