Description
A prototype for what I wish to call "Legacy MechaGodzilla", a redesign of the Ready Player One MechaGodzilla.
While I was excited upon seeing him in film for the first time, I has since drawn a lot of issues with the design, namely from the shoulders below. While the upper half is good and a nice reference to Ohrai Noriyoshi, I feel the lower half is not that great, especially the chicken legs and feet. I felt as a general "this is MechaGodzilla", it only got it half right.
As such, I wanted to do this new design to fix my issues. It combines elements of the RPO MechaG and Ohrai Noriyoshi version with elements of the previous versions as well as Larry Quach's MechaGodzilla design (which I consider to be one of the best fan designs), giving it an "homage" feel to it. These included a more solid body, more obvious joint areas, Thicker and less bird-like legs, a more segmented tail, a modified neck.
It still retains the Atomic Breath and finger missiles, which also cause the eyes and back lights to glow depending on the weapon (like in the film, Blue for the Atomic Breath and Orange for the Finger Missiles). However it also gains 3 new weapons/tools: The Eye Beams (Aqua colored), The Chest Cannon/Plasma Grenade (Purple colored), and the Rocket Boosters (No color association). I added these in particular as with them it has all the abilities MechaG had in "Godzilla, Destroy All Monsters: Melee" which was my first exposure to the character (which I know all belong to MG2, but the colors correspond to the game rather than the movie), so I figured it was a nice reference. Finally I would update the sound design to better fit the robot, as the current sounds....well....suck....
This is still a heavy WIP, and not my primary MechaGodzilla design that I wish to do. I wanted to do this though as a tribute to my favorite Mecha, and though it a fun homage. Feedback is welcome and appreciated.
