Description Drawn after watching The Lorax.

If you haven't seen the movie yet, I do recommend seeing it in theatres. Sure, it might not have been the best movie ever, but the visuals.... god it was beautiful. Best use of 3D in a movie I've seen since HTTYD. It was colorful too, and the style just oozed Dr. Seuss. Seriously, it's worth paying just for that.

Of course, as of recent I've been impulsed to draw fanart for any animated kid's movie I see (what's the point of seeing a PG-13 movie when I can hang out with a bunch of five-year-olds instead? ), so I came out with this. I took my time on this, I really wanted to do this movie justice. And I also had alot of fun. Oh, and I plan on doing more. Maybe next time I'll livestream something if anyone is interested. Y'know, with that livestream I've had sitting around for months now, being useless? Yeah...

Anywho, I have to scram, gotta get back to being lazy on Tumblr doing lots of homework and stuff. The Lorax is copyright Illumination Entertainment or whatever. Seeya kiddies!

EDIT: I am so overwhelmed! Thank you for all your faves and comments, I really appreciate them and they mean alot to me.

I love your shading & coloring style. <3 It's got so much depth, and is still so smooth~

Also, very cute. I love how he doesn't seem to quite know what to do with that bird. :3

Thanks! If you want to know, I color my drawings in three steps. I do flat color first, then I shade in the characters with a dark grey (or sometimes a dull red or blue) with the layer set on multiply. Then I add an extra bit of light with a luminosity layer. It's not the most efficient method as it takes a while but the results are really great, plus it makes it easier to fix any mess-ups. It's all done on paint tool SAI.

Neat! Yay for different tools to color (with similar methods XD - I shade with a multiply layer, too--it just looks like I use a way different brush. :3).

Wow, hadn't seen such a leggy Lorax before. Really, this is what I noticed first, not even the Once-ler.

Yeah, I made his legs a bit long... but it was my first attempt at drawing both the Lorax and the Once-ler, so... meh, I'm not gonna change it. I actually think I made the Once-ler less leggy than he is in the movie too. These characters just have such odd proportions, ya' know?

True that.

so... meh, I'm not gonna change it.
No need to, they came out cute. Maybe here they're simply younger, hence the Once-ler being not so much of a "beanpole", and Lorax has yet to become a stached fuzzball on Yogi Bear-ish legs.

Thank you! The one great thing about The Lorax (and just Dr. Seuss things in general) is how colorful everything manages to be. I usually tend to dilute colors and focus on one "mood tone" for my artwork, so this was a great practice in getting varying vibrant colors into one cohesive image.

Your welcome!. Thats true the Lorax is really colorful and yes, Seuss stories are great for vibrant colors.

Thanks! lol the Lorax's size was hard to get right because he's so small compared to the Once-ler. I originally drew him even smaller, but I changed it when I realized that the poor guy was being overshadowed by beanpole on the left

Lol, I hear ya. I always draw The Lorax too small at first. XD
Hehehe, beanpole. XD

If you do get to see it, make sure you see it in 3D! There are just some AMAZING scenes that will make your eyes pop. Plus, the Onceler's green-gloved arms reaching out at you are like the best thing ever, I'm serious. Alot of expressive animation in them. And the 3D's not gimmicky at all, unlike Illumination's Despicable Me movie, it actually works in a way that wows you without reminding you that your watching a movie in 3d. Just... it's really awesome.

Sorry, still not helping, am I?
