Description
WARNING: Huge so you can see the examplesThis is the banner for Daisho Con commissions that I changed sliiiiiiightly for DeviantART commission guidelines! The Daisho poster excludes the prices (we write that in when we're at the con) and also has a mentioning about mailing colored commissions.
So yeah, awesome.

so many styles! Just a personal question for a fellow artist. How do you figure out which style is most appropriate or suitable for a certain project or story? I'm still struggling with finding the right style, and it's like I can't choose. which one to draw in. Did it take you months to get it all cleared out?

It really kind of depends on the story, in particular the tone and content. For example, a lot of the styles you see here are styles that occur in our current comic in the Looatic's Tale series, Talking to Myself: [link] The basic story is more backstory/explanation, but to make it more interesting, we have a psychologist hypothesize that people see the world in their own, "special" way. When it changes to a different character's backstory discussion, the style shifts to their "point of view."
The Exaggerated style is the style for the main character, Zinc, who is manic depressive. He sees the world in a more disjointed fashion (why the colors bleed out of the lines), and he overly exaggerates everything (which appears when he talks about certain characters, like the loudmouth vampire having a HUUUGE mouth on him). He also is a musician, so he sees everything like a musical. The comic paces around the lyrics of the song as he describes his story. The colors reflect more of his emotional state or impression of someone (the overly optimistic shrink is seen in a bright yellow, for example).
Other styles sort of follow this line, like a TV junkie vampire seeing the world as a silent-era cartoon given his age. Polly, the woman mother hen sees things more manga-like and illustrative, being she tells very elaborate adventures she has and makes her story more of an epic.
Basically my advice would be to dissect exactly what the story and tone is. Is it a film noir sorta story? Think about film noir (black and white, high contrast, shadows, gritty). Is it a happy slice-of-life? Probably more pastel/lighter colors would be suited for it, with normal "average joe" characters interacting. Joke-a-day could be more cartoonish and exaggerated. I kind of rambled for a bit. Did that help?

it definitely helped. That's probably it, I have to stop myself and think about the story itself.
thank you so much

It bewilders me how you can do so many different styles and still keep your alive in it. Love Noir Zinc and Bulletproof Flint. Also
"You're so thin I can't see your body" Flint that made absolutely no sense

What are you talking about? You and *I* are sharing a table. We're basically going to have none of the cool stuff they've got, so we'll just have to fill up our table with cool floral-print napkins, or something.
It'll be totally bitchin'.

If you'll allow me to language nitpick for a bit here, while "kore wa nan desu ka" is correct, when writing with kana, the particle "wa" is actually written with the character for ha - は - instead of わ.
This message was brought to you by the Kenny is unable to not comment on that kind of stuff department.
