***HUGE SPOILER WARNING FOR LOTF SACRIFICE***************************************************
This is a little comic strip depiction of Luke Skywalker's final moments with his wife Mara Jade (or her body rather) from the LOTF novel Sacrifice. This is how I saw this scene in my mind when I read it in the book and I just had to draw the Grand Master saying goodbye to his wife because it is just so so sad. This ensemble features one of the handful of moments written in Karen Traviss's book that managed to bring me to tears. *Sniff* I just can't believe Mara's gone....poor Luke
and poor me my favorite EU character is no more!!!!!!BTW in case anyone was wondering about my choice in title...it's the words Luke whispers just before he leans over and kisses his wife for the last time just before his son Ben comes in to be with him. The actual full dialog is "You really did want to see me, didn't you?" but it wouldn't all fit as the title

I haven't read the book, nor done much with the EU, but MAN the thought of this and this scene is touching and makes me HURT!

Mara was one of my favorite characters, so when I read the book, I actually cried when she died.
Really well drawn, and as I recall, exactly as it was in the book.

I guess this has actually been in the book. I've never read it completely-because I never owned a Sacrifice copy and I'm trying to get on paperback but I bought Invincible instead, but someday, but I know this similarity.

Yeah it is in the book. It made me ball like a little baby it was so sad and tender, and then to read about Luke breaking down after... heart wrenching! You really should get your hands on a copy of sacrifice it is really worth the sad depressing read I think and of course is the last shining moment for Mara Jade *sniff* Thanks for commenting

You mean, bawl. And yes, it was a sad time. And Sacrifice is the only one that I missed from the series, but sometime later I may get the paperback version(Invincible is the only hardcover I have out of all the LOTF books).

Oh man, that is beautiful. I swear that had to be the saddest scene in the entire EU. I hope the person who killed Mara (trying not to spoil people too much here) gets what is coming to him!

Thank you AG88 for the praise, it is much appreciated!!!! And I'm totally with you on this being the saddest scene ever in the entire EU. Defiantly got me to break down in major tears and give me that terrible gut wrenching feeling of sadness and loss
I do plan to out line this in black ink but as far as coloring it we'll have to see cuz I'm not the best at that kind of stuff (besides colored pencil) and I'd hate to ruin it. Maybe someone who is fluent in the photo shop coloring stuff would like to have a go at it????

I hope you don't mind if I shared the link to this deviation with a good friend who is also a big L/M fan--she really needs to see this, and she's been too busy to visit and see some of the Sacrifice pieces going up now. You've done superb justice to the author, and to the characters with this tender piece... **starts to cry again** And I totally agree--it's so bloody awful! Beautiful work!

By all means share it with anyone who will appreciate it as much as we L/M fans do. I'm just so touched and thrilled by all the positive feedback and encouragement I'm getting on this piece. You certainly deserve all the praise you've gotten, and a lot more. It's a heartbreaking event, for the Skywalkers and for their fans, and you've done a breathtaking job of depicting it, with compassion and great skill. Brava!
