Description
It was time to finish the series, after almost 9 months. (Or, more correctly - I suddenly felt for drawing foxes, and I wanted this done before I start drawing feline color variant charts.) Either way, it's done!
This does not mean I have drawn all fox color variants - far from it. This one does show some of the most important variants and colors in captive (fur farm and pet) red foxes, though, as well as some of the rarer and unique variants. There are an awful lot more.
Note that colors and markings vary a lot between individuals. None of these drawings show the One Way a fox of a certain variant has to look. Especially the amount of silver/light hairs changes a lot between individuals.
Some notes:
- Cherry foxes resemble red foxes, but with a darker and redder orange.
- The "fire factor" is a gene which dilutes (lightens) the orange. The "ice" is just a fancy word for saying the black is also diluted/has been turned grey.
- The snow glow fox is very, very rare, and only included because they are beautiful. Also, they are quite unique, so my excuse is that they also show the variety of the different coats well. Most snow glow foxes will have a (much) paler brown.
- Pearl foxes can be both darker and lighter than this.
- The Colicott brown probably has more silver than usual. The important part is the color difference between colicott and copper - the copper has a much warmer tone.
