Description
Spontaneously decided to draw Jafar. But also I wanted to try out my new coloured pencils...I've learned they don't blend well at all, so my question to you is are Prismacolours worth the expense? I can't get them in Ireland so I'd have to buy them online which means they would be even more expensive, but if enough people tell me they are worth it I will probably invest in some, so please let me know your opinions (or if you know of any other good brand coloured pencils!)

It still works out fine!
Try some of the Faber Castell products! I think they're pretty nice~

I think it worked out quite nicely. I think it all just depends on what brand of pencils you use and how experienced you are with them and to be honest not all prisma colors work like they should.

I think that is one of my main problems. I am so use to the way graphite pencils work that I just have to get use to learning a new technique with coloured pencils. I have ordered some blending pencils online so I will play around with them and see if they help me before I go out buying prisma colours. Thank you for the help

truly gorgeous!! the textures and colors are quite amazing!
personally, we had Prismacolors at school in Switzerland, and they were good ones... now I use Caran d'Ache Supercolor soft, which areΒ gorgeous, but a bit expensive...

Thank you so much!
Actually I have heard quite a bit about Caran d'Ache so perhaps I will try them out too.
Thanks again

Derwent! They are suppose to be high quality but they didn't blend as nicely as I would have liked. What do you suggest?!

ummm wellΒ i use both prismacolor's and faber castell polychromo's. prisma is far the better of the two, in terms of blending but i do love both equally. it is just a matter of lerning how to use them, to achieve the reults you are looking for. i have also used derwent many years ago and i found them a bit 'waxy', i still had fun learning with then though

Actually the art shop I go to does stock faber castell polychromos so maybe I will try them out too.
I am very new to the whole coloured pencils thing. I think I have gotten to use to my graphite pencils and don't really know how to work with coloured pencils now.
As far as blending goes I just used a white pencil to blend the colours (as I said I'm quite new to coloured pencils!)
Any suggestions/tips you have on using coloured pencils though are very very welcome

I'll take all the advice I can get haha! I think I will shop around for a few more pencils and see if I can improve.
I guess I shouldn't be too harsh on myself seeing it was my first coloured drawing!
Thank you so much by the way

no problem, and your right. this drawing is awesome and maybe it didnt blend how you wanted to... but the outcome is fantastic regardless i would suggest getting a colourless blending pencil, your local art shop should have them. they will work better than a white pencil and they work well with the polychromo's (if they are the ones you wanna try next) i wouldnt give up on the derwent though, maybe play around with techniques with them... you might learn to love them
