Description
My own recreation of the Phantasy Star opening title screen, as seen here: [link]Phantasy Star was SEGA's flagship RPG series, and "is considered a trailblazer amongst the role-playing video game genre, both for its advanced graphics technology, and for being one of the first story-driven games released in the United States." It also, notably, features one of the first female protagonists in videogames--fifteen year-old Alis Landale, who sets out on a journey of vengeance that results in the salvation of an entire star system.
Phantasy Star III--while not the most beloved in the series--was the first RPG I'd ever played when I was a wee little Bee. I was finally able to play the original game (having not owned a SEGA Master System) when it was released in a collection pack for the Game Boy Advance. I loved the characters. I loved the story. I loved that the game was stupidly hard and made me want to kill myself.
Being a fan of "old-school" videogames, it really makes me sad that the original Phantasy Star tetralogy has faded into obscurity for a lot of people, so this is my little salute to Alis Landale and the adventures that she began.
Uploaded in wallpaper size for those of you who would fancy a space!Alis desktop. May also upload a variant without the logo.
The space background is a photo....of...space...that was taken from a website that would not load properly, and attempted to give my computer a trojan, and therefor I cannot give proper credit! Apologies, space-photo provider, but I thank you.

Lovely remake of an 80s game; always great to see artists bringing back the old with a new zest to them!
I love the colors and how they go well together. The logo, I think should be made a little more "dark", though I like the slight transparent look, as well. The background for it is also an upgrade of the old 80's pixel look, so that's a plus. Love how the stars pop out alongside the character. The character was drawn beautifully, and I love her expression e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h… " width="15" height="13" alt="

Overall, I think the remake was executed very well within this drawing.

I really, really appreciate the critique! I was giving myself a really hard time about this since I was doing a "remake" of something that exists. >_O
The logo was originally a little bit darker, but I wasn't sure how I felt about it and ended up brightening it up with a screen. I uploaded the original here: [link]
How do you feel about that one? :3
I had such a hard time with the logo overall, because I couldn't for the life of me find a font for the title, or a transparent version of the logo. I ended up having to do a lot of heavy editing and saving what I ended up with as a "just in case". xD
Again, thank you for the critique! I need to learn how to do this somehow! /flex

Many moons ago, you gave me some really nice commentary on my own take on this exact setup- which I thank you for again, figure i'd stop by and see your take - which is great! You arguably captured the original look a lot more than I did (so much so that mine really looks more like an interpretation instead of an exact translation), also; something about her expression really works for me. Fantastic piece!

Love how you made the 80's pixel look inferior with this version; looks so lovely I could have it as a wallpaper FOREVER
Also, I want her luxuriously long and beauteous hair. For I am jealous of it. :3
Great job, Beth!

Thank you so much~! I'm super-proud of how this came out. >_O Shading and I don't go very well together, so I was worried, but I think it ended up looking okay!
And I'm jealous of her hair too. I keep seeing pictures of women--real or otherwise--with absolutely fabulous hair, so I decided to start growing mine back. <_<; I can't take the envy anymore. xD
