It does look realistic...But personally I think it would have looked better it all of the tail were black and red,instead of tan,black,and red.

That's where we got the references from, of both wild and captive pandas; this tail was based solely on photos. There are two subspecies of red pandas: the Western Red Panda, which has a lighter coat and faded markings on the face and tail (which can be purely blond or even white, having no markings at all), and the somewhat larger Styan's Red Panda, which has a much darker face and tail and well-defined markings. This tail (and the rest of the panda parts of the suit) is based off the Styan's panda.

That looks incredibly realistic, especially where the fur colours meet because the seam looks so smooth. Did you end up using different coloured pieces, or just dying the fur as you went?
It looks like it'd be bally heavy, but I believe you when you say it's fairly light. Sometimes that fill stuff can be quite lightweight if it's not packed in too tightly, there.
Looking forward to seeing the finished suit, for sure. ^_^

Three different colours of fur - fur is plastic and so cannot be dyed in the conventional sense.
It is possible to 'dye' large amounts of fur by painting it (coating the fibers rather than impregnating them with colour), but it is extremely labour intensive, affects the texture of the fur, and is not 100% colourfast.
