Description Wasn't expecting this to come out so soon...Let alone on TV?

But whatever it's here I watched it and I got to say even if the company is on a downward spiral as we speak, I actually Loved this short more than I was anticipating.

Now I know this is kind of rare to like a project coming out of the studio, but this is a nice love letter to Walt Disney the animator and all of the wonderful characters that the animation studio has created over the years. This is the perfect example of a labor of love. It's less of how many brands we own and more so how many movies and characters we have made.

The short itself opens with an old white man and a young black woman which acknowledge the artistic contributions of who came before, who's working now, and hopefully who will come next. By the way that's not just any old white guy. That's Burny Mattinson the longest serving animator who ever worked at the animation studio. The fact that he was able to appear in this short before his death is really something to behold. Plus, the whole project was dedicated to him, so I call that an absolute win.

But of course, the real appeal of it is seeing your favorite characters come to life and interact with each other. The fact they putted in extra effort and had the 2-D animated characters remain 2-D really gives me hope for the future that we will see more 2-D animated films down the line. I pretty much recognized all of the characters that were present in this short.

The fact that Princess Tiana is the first character to pop out after Mickey and Minnie is cool considering she was the last 2-D animated protagonist.

Timon calling Olaf Frosty certainly fits with his character along with Hades getting annoyed by a certain iconic song.

The 101 Dalmatians getting scared by Night on Bald Mountain was cute along with The Cinderella slipper gag

Gaston and the Chesure Cat meeting each other was interesting as well as the blue slime thing from Strange World falling in love with Ursula.

The Elevator gag with Donald and the sloth from Zootopia and Baymax was funny

Hearing the voice of Robin Williams as the Genie again was something I didn't know I needed until now. And it's not an AI either it's actually unused dialogue from Aladdin.

There is even some hidden in-jokes like Wreck It Ralph calling Mickey Garfield was funny and how scar follows it up with saying his line "I'm surrounded by Idiots" was the icing on the cake considering how flanderized Ralph's character was in Ralph breaks the internet as well as Elsa and Anna acknowledging how bad of a twist villain Prince Hans was.

Meanwhile, there was surprisingly a lot more love for the more underrated Disney characters than I was expecting. I noticed a lot of Meet the Robinson's and The Emperor's New Groove characters pop up along with Milo Thatch and Jim Hawkins from Atlantis and Treasure Planet respectively as well as Kenai, Koda, and the two moose from Brother Bear. and they even gave Carl the robot a line which made me smile. Even the weaker characters like Chicken Little and The dairy cow trio from Home on the Range make an appearance which is the equivalent of the weaker characters appearing in smash ultimate.

I guess if I do have to nitpick one downside, I guess I would've preferred a bit more variety with characters from outside the main Disney films like from Roger Rabbit and The Nightmare before Christmas and any Tv Disney characters and yeah, a lot of the dad characters were left out and hearing the voice of Darth Vader singing would've been awesome considering James Earl Jones also voiced Mufasa. But it didn't affect me that much.

But I got to say my favorite scene is Mickey looking at a portrait of Walt Disney and with barely any dialogue saying thanks and on with the show. That is always the equivalent of Walt Saying " I hope we never lose sight of one thing. That it was all started by a mouse." But we know it was really all started by a man with a dream...and a mouse.

And that ending with all the characters singing Wish upon a Star.......I actually kind of got teary eyed watching that scene.

The Fact that Belle is the first character who starts singing is really something to behold because growing up she was the first Disney character I ever heard sing.

Watching Snow White, Mulan, and Asha singing together is really unique considering the three represent the three generations of Disney Princesses.

And I might've clapped a bit when I heard Quasimodo sing a line.

So yeah a fun little short that respects the legacy of 100 years of Disney and hopefully another 100 years of more magic.

10/10

Now if you'll excuse me I gotta look at that group picture again to spot any characters I missed.
