I know the title sucks okay. XDDidn't know what to do though.
This is a contest entry of *Atalanta83 's. I couldn't decide on a few people actually but most of them were already paired so... wanted to try something different.
This picture is of my character Raziel and Ata's character Kyriel. It may surprise her to be honest but I've had this in my head for a long long long long time... LONG time...
I wanted to draw them paired up, because of how he had kind of been betrayed, attacked by her father and sent to the worst hellish place in existance. Coming back after many years, he has no emotion but has a weird sense of protecting her. Know what I mean? Kind of instinctive but also like the only emotion he has. That's also why they look like this in the picture and not lovey dovey; he cannot feel... but he can protect her, and does love her but doesn't even know love.
There, think that's all said, well... only 1% of it.

I realized something, the skull guys clothes look similar to gutts in Berserk

Yes, very similar. I changed it's model slightly on a few pages at home which weren't of this final design, but on another page yu can see them better. They are alot like them though. See where I get my inspiration? Berserk's amazing and always has been. ^_^

yes it was, I love the stories setting and tone, I liked how it was kinda confusing. Ive always liked guts armor, it looks like its some German/french armor

Also finding out that he has an involvement in the 100 years war, which includes the main countries of Britain and France. So... I figured that Guts was one of those. I can't tell what origin the armour came from but, hmm... German is better than French I think.

well it would make sense because Gutts was based on Some german guy named Gotts- I dont know all the details- thats what wikipedia is for

Howd'yu know that?? I looked in wikipedia and Kentaro doesn't say that he based Guts on him. Gotz von Berlichingen. He says he never knew anything about him until after he drew him. It was only related to his arm and his first name is similar.

...actually, I don't mind one bit that he is based on a German Knight. That's kwl anways! He was probably being defensive. I want a metal arm!!!! XDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Guts is more brutal I think... than the real life Gotz. But still, I believe ya when yu said that he's based on him. Who else could he be?!? He is SOOOOO similar!!

It looks alot like his first few swords that he used. When he was a mercenary on his own and before meeting the Band of the Hawk. Then, his next one was similar. But even bigger. I'm probably looking at the hilt too much and handle guard. >_<

yeah I see where your going with this, they do have a similar shape but We cant really say that the swords are based on existing swords.

True. It's hard to make one up though. So, saying if I made one up, it would look like something that exists already, in someone elses mind or a cross between two existing swords.
He has a great imagination though.

When I make a fictional sword- I usually go with a balance of style and practicality. Like a japan style sword with a european handguard
long straight-sword with a large handle and a shield attached to the guard. I even have an Idea involving chaining swords to elbows(look ma no hands!)

See what I mean? They were notorious for that the wielder needed alot of strength to use them. But they never really got as wide as gutts sword did.

Hehehehe, I'm not stopping yu from drawing stuff like this. But all yu draw is romance with people yu've never drawn alot, so yu don't get alot of practise with one person to get brilliant. I'm not, so that's why I've drawn this too, to get practise.

Wooo, I spent most time on his armor than any other part. Was because I was trying to make up a desgn as I went along but my creativity was lacking in that department. o_O

Yu like the rock? Yeah, was madly thinking on what it could be and what it'll look like. But then I thought of it being of death and corpses and only Kyriel's side it is grown with plantlife and stuff. Makes it look better that as she looks more angelic and him demonic... well, yu get the idea.

Blab on all you want. That's what I liked so much about it. His side looks much more rock like. and hers looks a bit like a moss covered cypress stump. It was a very clever device.

Thank yu so much! I wish I had the patience to do a background but it only stretched so far so as to do the floor only. Was gonna put more into the picture too but it may ruin it, making it hard to see them both.

This is really well-drawn! The only thing I might suggest is for you to work on the clothing a bit more, maybe use a reference picture? Other than that, I love the composition, and the shading is good too
