Description
Winter is the coldest time. But for me it's also the warmest one. It's a paradox, I know, but as the most paradoxes it is true.
When everything outside is white and the birds are so far southern, when the wind blows my hat a hundred miles away, there's no warmer place than my home.
It's special winter warmness, which I find only behind the pictures on my windows drawn by frost. It's an embrace, even if my fingers are frozen and I can't move. It's a glass of whiskey next to the flaming fireplace. It's a book, it's gathering of friends, it's the beloved person. It's a feeling.
When winter is not cold as usual, it's strange. The sun is shining and the children obligate their mothers to have a walk in the park. Anyway, it's something that normally affects my life only in positive way.
But not right now. Right here another climate is changed. My home winter warmness is missing. My place is empty. There's no one, only vacancy. There's nothing I can think about, but sorrow. There's nothing I can dream about, but my memories come back.
The facts don't matter. It's coldness inside.

And I just should mention: the tea I was drinking, while managing the afterwork, is called "Winter dreams". And it was absolute fortuity.

your photo along with your beautifully melancholic description is wonderfully romantic. like a comforting breeze on a warm night. living in the tropics all my life, there is no way i could be able to understand the beauty of winter except through movies, cartoons, and even hallmark christmas cards. lol. but because of your writing, i think i can tell what its like and i feel i understand what you mean.. just wonderful
regarding the photo, i have no complaints. it feels a bit bohemic and i think thats lovely. hmm.. however, i notice some inconsistencies in the blurring (is that gaussian blur?). but its ok. maybe its because i have a preference for strong contrast and details. hehe.. ignore me

nope, no chance to ignore you
it's just a litle bit of motion blur, but not only that. as i said, i also has some doubts about these part of the pic, but there were just no other way, as my friend Cyril is not ready for bigger sacrifieces in the name of my art. And another pose just looked unnatural.
But there's something that i like now as well. It has a gradient manner in down-up direction. I mean the down part of the picture is most surreal/magic/fantasy/BlahBLah, while the up part is most real.
and i like the word "bohemic", describing this piece.
and don't lie, of course you know what winter is - there were plenty of them during our past life (and some were too cold in my opinion, but tat were the risks of the "street artist" profession ).

i agree about that gradient of reality and fantasy. brilliant! i'm appreciating it even more
and you know me and my forgetfullness.. thanks for reminding me of those cruel winters. haha.. but you do remember us getting rich right? after that expidition with the spanish armanda. it was your greatest con ever - i mean, convincing them you were a captain! i didnt think we could pull it up that long. and i never did expect that papa's stories about the buddha treasure in Siam (now thailand) was real. hmm.. well, that was certainly one swashbuckling adventure we had! hahaha...

There's sth I don't like in the colours' use - maybe the scarf should be a little bit darker, I don't exactly know..
Anyway, I like the idea of the shot and your description is really impressive!
Expecting more good stuff!

hehe, would be pretty pathetic. when you are having a contest and everybody only gets one vote... from theirselves i have never voted for myself, ever. dunno, it ust seemed too loserish

I voted once. It was a haiku contest.
But i really liked my one most.
Which is very strange, as i'm the biggest critique of my own works. I'm always unsatisfied with the results. Not a complain, just a fact.

yeah i have that too, it kinda sucks in a way.. but on the other hand, that is just good, cause you keep ritisizing and therefor improving your work.
btw, about great works... lately, i went through my favs, i had 13 or somthing like that i think... and suddenly i realised i had pretty crappy ones among them, even though i was most certain i had been really picky. so i deleted lots of them. but i kept your first deviation, all night long, hehe. dunno, it remains one of my favourite images here on da, no matter what. so if you want to be sure of one work, that is the one you shouldnt change a pixel on!

Thank you again.
And don't worry, there's not so much pixels in that photo anyway. I still bang my head in the wall when i remember with what a low rezolution i shot it. And it was only because of my stupidity.
But i try to think that's the way to improve. Not only in photography, of cors. A try -> a mistake. Rarely succeed in thinking like that tho.

well, you dont see any pixelkind of bs, so i think it is pretty ok, hehe
and it is true, sometimes, it is even better to fail a couple of times before you succeed in order to improve your final product, if you get what i mean

as always, good stuff just couple of thingies... dont really like some overexposed bits, like, for instance, his shoulder.
the scarf and the nudity are great, espacially if you want to express that feeling you told us about... just too bad the scarf has moved, and you see 2 lines and you can hardly see the end of the scarf. could be caused by shadows, or by movement, cant really see that right now.
blurry part... too bad, would have been way better without i suppose.
as for the rest of it, i love it. i really do. his look is perfect and as said before, the combination nudity and scarf is simply brilliant
whats cool too is how you only see a little piece of the room, which makes you want to see more of it, even though you can hardly see it on the little piece. i like it a lot good work, i'll vote for you when the time comes near

Thank you for the toughtful comment.
Maybe you're right for the overexposure of the shoulder, but it really doesn''t look like that when i watch it in higher rezolution. But actually it doesn't irritate me when i watch it here too.. question of taste, i suppose.
What about the moving scarf - there is an absolutely concrete reason to be like that, but you already can't see it.
And even more - stop looking down there! It's the face what's important.
Thank you again, really appreciate another's opinion.

hehe, yeah, i get the reason but you could have just put it there couldnt you??
overexposure here seems really tough, but youre right, might indeed be the screen. i always make everything really bright, so that is prolly it

WOW. Stunning work. Love the conceptual contrast of the scarf with the nudity, rather briliant. Also love the softening effect on the image. this is a GREAT piece.
