Description
In honor of the upcoming Easter season, when Jesus Christ our Lord raised from the dead.I was inspired to do this when we sang the hymn in church on Sunday.
Verse 1
On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.
Refrain
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.
Verse 2
O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.
Refrain
Verse 3
In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.
Refrain
Verse 4
To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.
Refrain

Happy Easter. ^^

Your fancharacter is so beautiful!!!! <3
Also, there is one thing I'd like to bring to the surface here. I don't feel that the cross is a good symbol at all for christianity. Think about it; Jesus was murdered on that thing. We symbolize what Jesus was murdered on as our symbol of christianity. Say he were killed by a giant rock; would we symbolize a boulder for christianity? I personally dislike the cross itself because all I see in it is death. That's my personal opinion. What do you think?

Personally, I believe we celebrate the fact that Jesus is not on the cross any longer - for he was resurrected!

Thanks. ^^
Well, I've never thought of it that way before. I guess in my opinion the cross helps us to remember the kind of length Jesus went to, to save us from eternal death. (Or at least it helps ME remember.) Though believe me, it makes me shiver to think of all the stuff they did to him. Even Jesus asked God if there was another way, even though he already knew the answer.
I guess to me the cross doesn't just symbolize what happened to Christ, but also the hope that we can someday go to live with him in heaven. Think about it. Jesus loved all of us so much he allowed himself to be tortured, taunted, and killed so that we could have that opportunity. It says so in John 3:16. It may seem crazy to believe that God would allow his own Son to go through that, but He knows a lot better than we do! In the end, everything falls into perfect place, even when we can't see it right away. (I've been learning that a lot lately. X3; )
So, yeah, that's how I like to think about it. Does that help?

Wow, that was great insight! You really know your stuff. I've turned away from Christianity recently due to all the hypocrites and deception, especially those self-righteous Christians that think they are doing such a great service by donating a dime (if you know what I mean(the people that like to blow their own horn)).
People like you make me reconsider Christianity. You are pure and true to your word. You are part of a precious few.

Well, I try my best. ^_^
And yeah, I know there are people out there who talk the talk, but don't exactly walk it. Actions speak louder than words. But don't forget, people can't change people, only God can change people. As His followers, all we can do is keep shining our lights and pray for those who aren't saved or who don't seem that close to God. Sometimes people just need time to get their act together. All that's really needed is just allowing God to work inside the heart. It's the same with Christians when you think about it. We're always learning something new and we're always being crafted by the Creator. I'm constantly being crafted, believe me! XD
Again, I hope that helps. And I'll be praying for you. Okay?
