Description This was a weird experiment, and I'm not sure how I feel about the results, but here we are. background was done traditionally while horse and rider were colored digitally.

It was a hectic month. Both Renna and Char had papers flying, preparing and planning for Rennas month long trip to Scandinavia, who would be taking up the slack with the stables, getting Rennas bow hunting license, training, conditioning, packing, more training. Though, in all fairness, this whole event was just one big training experience. Sky and Dashka were young horses with very little experience under their belt, and this competition would let Renna see just how far along they've come. Sky was already showing signs that he had the makings of a great endurance horse. He was calm, curious, and good with his feet, and there was a certain fire in him that seemed unquenchable, but a lot of young stallions were that way. Only time would tell if that fire continued to burn bright into his later years.

Dashka showed promise too, though her stubbornness was a cause of concern. Sky was the only stallion that she would happily tolerate, most likely due to the fact that they grew up together. They were practically brother and sister, and in some ways they were.

It was the night before she was to take the ferry to the mainland. It would be easier to take the horses by boat rather than by plane, and not to mention cheaper. Renna had her things spread out in the living room floor and was going through one last check through.

Four changes of clothes, two sweatshirts, two waterproof jackets, toiletries, cooking gear, a water filter, a weeks worth of her own food and snacks, a hatchet, fire starters, two first aid kits, one for her and one for the  horses, hobble ties, a grooming box, a quiver of forty hunting arrows and hunting bow, extra rope, and of course, a small tent and sleeping bag.

Renna checked off the last thing on her list and nodded to herself. Everything was accounted for. The only thing left to do was to get some rest-her last night in a soft bed.

The next morning, they got up well before the sun was up, packing the trailer and finally the horses, and they were on the road with plenty of time.

Wow, I hate this. This is so boring, Renna thought to herself as the miles dragged by. It was a shame the arrival was always the least exciting part of the event, especially since she was traveling alone and left so little room for error, but it was for the best. The excitement would be coming up soon.

They arrived at their destination the next day late in the evening. The horses were brought to their assigned box, and Renna was brought to her bunk.

The next morning they waited their turn for the vet check. Both horses passed with flying colors. Sky seemed to be enjoying the snow and the cold weather. Dashka looked like she couldn't give one heck about it all. In two days, they would begin their journey into the wilderness.
